Insurance prices are not dictated by engine capacity.

Some quotes i got at the start of the year - it's strange how it works...

VTS - 1.6, 120bhp, FWD - £510
BMW - 2.8 - 230bhp, RWD, £687
Dc2 - 1.8, 185bhp, fwd, £1600

more expensive than the saxo yes, but not much more exensive considering the increased power / performance.

I dont know how people justify spending £3000+ on insurance! I pay £900 on a vts at 19 and i think that is too much!

Stats mate, high risk car combined with a high risk driver (i.e young) means a high premium....simple :)

How many different insurance brokers/companies have you tried? You need to spend at least half a day phoning as many diffrent companies as possible. Best bet is to find new less known brokers that are trying to undercut the competion to win customers. Do a google search and find some brokers you have never heard of, you shouldnt be paying over £3000 unless you have serious conviction on your licence.
