Been annoying me for a while.

Vts.

From a cold start nothing. Drive 5 miles or so then idle and its "tap tap tap tap tap"

Only heard from inside the car. Can't hear it outside. Only when properly warmed up.

Tends to go away above 1500 revs.

Wrong viscosity of oil?

Ta.

10w 40. It's alway been there, not any worse, no better. Just annoying.

What's the mileage buddy?

VTS have hydraulic tappets and can't be adjusted like VTR tappets

I got it quite often when I used 10w 40 magnatec.

But since changing to Mobil 1 0W 40, it's hardly happened

Sounds like your tappets to me, I had the same problem on my vts a oil change sorted it out
