A lad up the road from me has just come down and asked me to fit his headlight bulbs for him cause he needed tools to do it which he did not have..

When he gave me the bulbs they was not conventional bulbs..
They where SMD bulbs.
So i said to him why have you gone for these rather than normal bulbs, his reason was he wanted the HID look but did not want to pay £30 for a HID kit.
And so opted for a set of £5 bulbs.

I did tell him he would probs see F*** all from them as but he wanted them fitting.
I have SMD sidelights and they are bright, but surely the SMD bulbs will not be bright enough for him to see where his going, and im guessing they wont pass an MOT.

Anyone got any ideas? Cause if they are good i might get some or my Main beam bulbs, as currently i have HID 6000k on my Dipped. And main beams still glow yellow.

never seen them before, one thing I would say is never fit cheap/poor bulb as they play such a huge part in safety.

Im agree fully, i was out before and i had a headlight bulb out so popped into a petrol station paid over the odds for a bulb, had no beam pattern to it was rubbish.

I tried some blue tint H4 bulbs years back (ebay special) and was blown away by how little light they emitted.

i dont think they are legal as they wont give out the light pattern required plus they will give off next to no light, yeah they may look good but they will be dangerous

Cheap headlights are pointless. They look cheap and they are simply not as good as premium brands. I woulnt trust bulbs like that, they're not a common fixture in cars as headlights for a reason.

In my honest oppinion you either go the full hog and get properly good headlights or you leave them as is. If you dont go all out you willl either be breaking the law, failing an MOT, or will look like someone who uses cheap lights and willing to drive with less light. As I said, they're pointless.

I just spend £120 on a proper HID kit as well as projectors for that reason.

Get some high perforance hallogens. Some of those bosch ones are really impressive for hallogens and give a white look, and you know they will be quality products and I bet they come with a warranty.
