Guys i bled the system over a dozen times now and its still not right.. When i let the car heat up and turn on d blowers i will get a very nice burst ov really warm air, nearly to warm, but then it starts to get colder and colder.. Then if i turn off the heaters and wait afew min and turn back on and will get great heat for a max ov 8-9seconds.. Could any1 please tell me what can cause this on other saxos.. Appreciate afew replys.. Thanks guys

thermostat. change that and at same time give engine a flush. then refill and bleed. should sort it

How did you bleed it?

It`s in the FAQ`s mate, but basically good advice already given. If it`s not a faulty thermostat then possibly a blockage in the cooling system.:drink:

Ok guys going out to take out the stat and see..

Could be possible head gasket failure... Correct me i'f i'm wrong though.

Its still air locked imo. As said change the stat too while you are there and use the header tank method when you bleed it up with plenty of decent antifreeze as its getting cold now.

It`s in the FAQ`s mate,

I was asking how it was bled because if it wasn't done by
using header tank
rad bleeder
thermostat housing bleeder
pipe bleeder
then there will still be air in system.

If it's been bled properly then start looking for blockages/leaks etc.

I wasn`t having a moan,it`s recommended to do it with a header tank.:drink:

Is it definatly bled properlly? If so whip the stat out and check it. If thats ok then theres a few other possibilities, whats the temperature on the gauge doing when you drive is it over heating at all?

K guys changed the stat, still no look, the temp gauge has gone abit weird since i changed it,fluctuating up and down abit above half way,in it last night and it was like i had to keep buildin the heat up,like turning of the heaters to let it build! its goin to get looked at 2mro mornin by my mechanic..

maybe you have faulty temp sensors

if your thinking of changing your thermostat before you do that test it by putting it in a jug of boiling water from a kettle, if its faulty it wont open, therefore if it opens, you dont need a new one

Yeh i got a new stat and still the same.. could it be the radiater in behind the dash for the heating?

Tom5190

Could be the matrix yea, could possibly be the water pump if you are getting over heating

Well the light doesnt come on or anything, and only had cam belt and pump changed 4mnths ago and the old pump wasnt bad at all.. is the matrix a hard job?

I wouldn`t say a hard job to do as such it just envolves taking off the dashboard etc to get to it.

What method did you use to bleed it? I've found mine will get a bit high on the gauge if I dont use the header tank method. When I do it using the header tank method, it sits bang on half way and rarely gets hotter than that. Thats it running a new VTS rad, new water pump and 82 degree stat with 50/50 coolant mix.

Before you change anything run the engine till hot check the heater hoses to see if theyr'e hot normally when this happens the one taking the water into the heater matrix is red hot and the one bringing the water back out is a lot is a lot cooler nearly cold hold the outward one get someone to rev the car see if the heat in the pipe increases if not you could have a blockage in the heater matrix. before buying taking the dash apart, try to pump some water through the system with slight pressure one of those small pump handleled water bottles will do it. If that fails then back blow it same process except do it through the outward heater hose. Paul_S
