I've just quickly set up my new router, haven't got time to try a game yet online, it says my wireless signal strength is between 50 and 60% (keeps going up and down) Is this normal for a signal strength and should it be ok to play games online? Baring in mind the router is downstairs and my ps3 is upstairs almost directly above. Cheers

...Try it and see!
Make sure the router downstairs is up at height, like not sat on the floor or anything
Also if the router is nearer the door that leads to the upstairs then the signal will be better
Is there no way you can have the router at the bottom of the stairs so in a central position to the rooms in the house? Will get a better signal strength then too
Also your connection speed affects signal strength, a faster connection will broadcast further

thanks for your reply. I kept disconnecting online because the signal was so week, i had an ethernet cable leading upstairs to a PC so after an adapter and extra ethernet cable was able to connect my PS3 that way. Funny though because my Xbox is right next to the PS3 and the signal on that is spot on, i've read though that the PS3 wireless inside is very poor, which from my experience (i've had 2 PS3's) they are
