Alright lads!

Just installed my HID hi-lo 8000k headlights with decent looking ballasts etc..

But I have a major problem with them

(While im driving) The left one seems to cut out all the time and then after a while the right one will go as well or it can be the other way round (rarely). Sidelights stay on.

(Stationary) They stay on and dont even flicker or turn off.

Seems to be when there is vibration or when I go round a corner.. I was faffing with them earlier and tapped the front of the headlight with my hand and the left one switched off. I have absolutely no idea why this is. Ive checked the connections of all the wires and even checked the earthing points (even went to the liberty of scraping the paint off the metal to give a better earth contact).. but still they continue to turn off and its kinda dangerous!

The HID conversion kit wasnt a cheap one so it cant be down to poorly made goods surely?

Any ideas?
Cheers

id assume you have a faulty kit.. maybe a problem with the ballasts? have you secured them down or are they just in the fuse box/ecu cover?

Ones in the fuse box (quite a tight fit) and the other is secured with a cable tie but it kinda moves around

Mine did this a couple of times the left one would flicker until switched off and on again. I disconnected all the wires and reconnected them and it solved the problem. If it still doesn't sort it then its probably faulty ballasts.

Can be a bad earth or a cracked wire or worse and could be a faulty ballast.

I would check all cables first and make sure they have good earths then see if the problem carries on. If it does maybe try find a friend with them ad borrow there ballast and go from there

I'd be willing to bet a tenner that it's a poor earth :y: had this issue myself

Sorry to hijack the thread...

I bought mine with some form of HID kit already fitted and not being technically minded, wouldnt know where to start!

When I switch the sidelights on, the backs come as normal but nothing happens at the front.

When I put the full headlights on, the main bulbs come on - what i've noticed a few times is that the o/s sidelight bulb will flash for a while and then go off.

What can I check and sort with it? I dont know where or when they were fitted and if possible, want to avoid replacing them.

Cheers
