My Brother wants to know more info about a c1 license as the direct gov website is useless and this license category is required for a possible job.
How is a c1 license different from a normal category b full uk license?
how much does it cost for the test?
whats involved in the test?
How old do you have to be?
thanks

Try google for locations and cost of courses in your area.
C1 lets you drive larger vehicles
try http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/WhatCanYouDriveAndYourObligations/DG_4022499 for license info

Theres a hgv driving school at south mimms service station. It's called road train - it's oppisate the Scania dealer / workshop.
When I done my 44 ton training I done it from there. There a good firm to deal with.

Try http://www.paramedic-resource-centre.com/training_courses/trailer_training_c1_d1.htm
Proper blue light ambulance? Or mini-bus patient transport ambulance?
C1 is light goods vehicle - transit van sized.

No point doing C1 as your limited to 7.5T, where as if you do class C which is the same test as C1, your not limited. So more choice of jobs available.
Normally it cost around the £800-1200 mark

ouch thats expensive! thought it would be around the £50mark like the normal license lol
i dont think it would ever be needed to go for a bigger weight tbh as ambulances dont get much bigger than 7.5t
so is that for the c1 it would normally cost 800-1200 or just the class C??

yeah but it is always good to have the extra qualifications and for doing the same test, you may aswell sit the c test
best bet would be to phone up a localish company to see what price they could do for you, that way you will get a today accurate price from an actuall company
do the ambulance service not put you through your test?

The relavent size'd to the one which you want to drive after you've done your test it:
c1: Any truck up to 7.5ton
c: up to 17 ton - includes 7.5 ton
c+e: up to 44 ton. Includes all of the above trucks. C+e licences also show: b+e and c1+e as well!! :)
