Hi

I am trying to get insured on a 1.4 but the quotes I am getting is ridiculous :(

I am 18, had my license 6 months, no points etc..

Quotes I'm getting are around 4 Grand??

I'm seeing people on here that are getting insured on VTR's for under 2 grand, how is that possible?

If anyone could help me, and tell me who they're insured with and how much it costs?

Thanks :y:

get a 1.0 1.1 or 1.5d

quotes vary on a huge list of different factors.

10 years NCB + not being 18 helps. Shop around more.

Like I said, depends on a long list of factors. If you live in Manchester, you'll be more likely to pay twice as much as someone who live in the arse end of nowhere. Shop around and make phones calls so you can reach human being and not get quotes from websites. These people are called insurance brokers.

Just tried One Quote Direct, put myself as 19, and to insure a 99 Golf 1.4 as that's what I'm going to be driving when I'm 19.

They couldn't even quote me?! Thats with 2 years driving, but no NCB, but no points or anything.

Fuckin joke lol

Ye but surely there's somewhere to insure me on my own policy without using my parents as a main policy holder, on a golf 1.4, being 19, nearly 2 years experience, no points, for around 2K? I wouldn't mind paying around 160 a month, just can't even find nothing :n:

Tbh if you want to start driving you don't have much of a choice, be prepared to pay over the top for your first year or 2. Just shop around everywhere you can to get the cheapest.

Surely you must be able to get insurance for under 2K? Some company will do you a decent deal
Shop around as everyone says, best to phone rather than online as ive found the quotes ive had online are ok but when i phone them direct i actually get a better deal than whats offer online

All you can do is shop around.

Chances are you either live in a high postcode rating or your occupation is a high risk one (or both).

Try admiral/elephant and stick TWO older named drivers on (40+ years old).

Living in west midlands don't help.

And 2 named drivers on my policy? or me and another driver on somebody elses policy?

Fully comp or TPFAT?

Get quote's online, but ring the cheapest company up. Do a phone quote.. if it's higher tell them the internet quote ref number.. But normally its cheaper over the phone (go-compare and suchlike don't do it for free).

Also when I was getting quoted.. It came out cheaper fully comp than TPF+T. So try that.

And Add 2 older people onto your policy.. It's still YOUR policy, just with (eg mum+dad) as named drivers.

I pay £1000 21 3yrs NCB and Drink driving on a VTR.

I jus did a quote on elephant for a 1.4 golf

Put me as the policy holder, my dad and auntie as named drivers

Put my address in west midlands they want over £3000

Put my address in telford they want £1500

this is for tpfaf

what a joke lol

GuessWhosBack

fully comp they want nearly 2 grand. tpfaf is my best bet lol, but only if i tell them the cars kept in telford where my grandad lives? anyway around that? :(

Wouldn't be legal, and probs wouldn't get paid out if cars insured at a different address lol
