Hello Saxy people.

Ive not long bought a little Saxo 1.0, and as its not even a VTR im not looking to add much bhp, but would just like it to sound nice with my K&N open air filter.

Is it possible to get a nice, decent sound by just adding a back box?

If so, what would you recommend to get? Does anyone have one for sale?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated, regards Jack.

The piper is a very popular backbox choice with the sax-p community

Depends on the car, to be honest it never happens on 1 liter engines as in always sound like a wet fart. It does get annoying on motorways, put your foot down and you'll get lots of noise for very little acceleration then you'll discover the joys of 4.5k rpm doing 70.

(Since it's been mentioned above) I highly doubt that a 4 pot will ever sound like a V8. To be honest, doing such mods on a 1.0 will only attract chavboyracers and embarrassment.

+1. I've got some sort of after market exhaust system on mine, even though it all looks completely bog standard, but just brand new from the previous owner (could just be a shit one though). Mine's a 1.0ltr too.

You start the car and it sounds all "oooo!", but get on a motorway and you'll soon have thoughts of wrapping the car around a tree. I can't wait to change it back.

Lets be honest anyone that wants their car to alert neighbours of their every arrival & departure is gonna put an after market back box on regardless of the comments made.
Its only a teeny engine so dont go spending large summs of your weekly wedge, just find a subtle nicely shaped box that gives you the sound and attention your after.

However everyone here is right the motorway journeys will suck so keep your old box safe & secure for an easy swap once your bored of the drone. :y:

not just the motorways, any regular road at 60 will sound like

BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAP

That's also the end of you enjoying anything coming out of your stereo.

Its funny you should say that, the previous owner of my car had recently fitted a new one that looks standard, but sounds too 'bling' for a standard exhaust...

I've seen and commented on your Flatty, Very nice mate :)

Yeah, when I get my VTR I shall definitely be getting a full de-cat system, but like you say, this ones only a teeny engine thats probably not worth the money/effort.
