I don't see many about, I see loads of saxo's, never realised there were so many till I owned one lol, but I have only seen 1 VTS and that was on a trailer a track car lol, do you think it's because once you can afford the insurance for the extra 8valves, you realise being 25 or having a few years NCB you can actually afford something a little faster..? Lol. I say now I really want one, but by the time I can afford the insurance.. it might be a different story. Got quoted 4.2K with elephant lol. 21 no NCB parked in residential car park with a 2nd or 3rd from best postcode rating. Ridiculous lol, going to do as much damage in a VTR as I would in an S lol.

Re-readin.. Not sure to the point of this thread lol. Just wondering if it's insurance that puts people off a VTS..? Put me right off lol.

thats precisely the reason my car has an R and 8 less valveys... to insure an S wouldnt be worth it, id probably LOVE it for a month or so and then think why the fuck didnt i get an R every other month i own it untill its written off.

Theres loads about like or was.. Just like you said, Majority of people that own saxo's are Under 21 so the insurance is nuts for a vts.

Doesn't stop people doing engine conversions or using them as track cars only.

Exactly!! I would have loved a vts at 17, but had to make do with a vtr. Insurance was still 2.5k!! Then when i reached an the age of 21 an realised i could afford something quicker i went for an ep3 civic type R, why waste my time with avts when insurance wasnt hardly any cheaper!!

I just sold my e36 bmw 328i sport coupe and bought a vts to save money for my e46 M3 next summer ;-) Phoned my insurance to change it over, 3 quid a month cheaper!!! What a joke lol

for me, a vtr would have been £80 cheaper a year to insure. £680 instead of £760. when tax is the same, mpg is very similar and parts like tyres, brakes etc all cost the same, buying a vtr never even crossed my mind, it just didnt seem worth it

If you're old (like me) then insurance between a 1.1 and a VTS is literally £50 so it's a no brainer.

I drive it personally on weekends or during the week to visit sites at work (but get mileage expenses) so MPG is not an issue either.

When it comes to car insurance, old is anything over 21

Assuming you have no claims bonus of course ;)
