View Full Version : Stunning 501 SMD Sidelights
geraintthomas

Recently bought a set of SMD LED 501 bulbs for my sidelights from eBay and, to be frank, they're gorgeous. If you've got HID's then these are a perfect companion, and as they're LED's they turn on / off instantly, and appear to be a lot more durable :)
A lot of you probably already know about this, but I thought I'd throw this up anyway.
(Apologies for the poor camera quality - it's from my phone).

I got them here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-5-LED-501-T10-W5W-WEDGE-HID-XENON-WHITE-SIDE-LIGHTS-/290600920383?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43a92a253f#ht_2655wt_982), £1.99 with a year's warranty as well which is great. NOTE: Looks like they've upped the price to £11.99?! Ridiculous, to here's another link:
CLICK (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2PCS-Xenon-White-SMD-LED-Car-Side-Ligh-Bulb-T10-501-W5W-/260755736280?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb640c6d8#ht_1860wt_1214) - £2.99, free delivery, years warranty.
Anyway! Like said a lot of you may already know about them but if not, don't waste your money on blue tinted halogen side lights. I posted this in another thread but thought I'd make it's own, just to show them :)
What do you think? :A:

Boring question but are they road legal?
No, I don't believe so however no one will ever check and they're not as bright as hids obvs. So if you have HIDs and they don't stop you then these wont cause any issues :)

Well they're no different to a lot of DRL lights that new cars have. They're the same colour, no brighter and in fact a lot of DRL lights are very bright. I can't imagine them being illegal at all.
These aren't blue either, they're white with a slight tint of blue. You won't have any trouble at all :y:

They're absolutely pathetic mate. Honestly they're one direction for starts, they're very dim, and brake within two weeks. Horrendous.
These have SMD's on all sides so that the light shines outwards like a standard bulb, so they're brighter and better :)

You tried turning it around? I know they sometimes don't work unless fitted a particular way as I found out with mine.

He's right - they'll only work a certain way. Try taking it out and turning it around

This is wrong information they are not road legal. You can not swap bulb types in your sidelights. The bulbs you are selling are not ECE or BS approved so to the letter of the law you could not as any positioning light.
