Me and my pals just got a unit, I'm trying to think of ideas of how to make a little money form it to help towards the rent.

I was thinking of breaking cars, but not sure if there is a profit to be made there.

What do you lot think?

How much room can you spare?

I know a couple of my mates who were looking for a unit to store their cars in over the winter etc.

Show cars and stuff like that.

Turn it into a gym, if you can fit 8 cars in it then it's just the right size by the sounds of it :)

This.

Breaking cars there's a lot of money involved, as long as you know you can advertise properly and sell parts It will be fine. I broke a few cars now and used mainly ebay and saxp to put stuff on. All my cars cost me under £350, saxo vtr/s 106 gti's. You can double or even triple your money back on it.

dont you have to have a trading liscence if your breaking vehicles?

sure i watched a programe about it the other week, people getting bust for just breaking cars in a yard with out any liscence or anything.

rent the space and money upfront, can leave cars in there and itll be a constant income for nothing, use the rest of space for working on cars, or rent time on a ramp if you have one

+1 and take it from me, if your doing it properly and not on the sly,it'll cost you a fortune. Get caught and its game over. You need bunded stores for batteries, oil, anti freeze etc, waste carriers license for scrap and hazardous handling certs for airbags. Then you need specified areas for dismantling, not just where you can fit the car. Police are always pulling transits and lorries over with scrap cars etc on and checking for waste carriers, get pulled without one and theres a very good chance you can kiss goodbye to the vehicle/trailer/truck

Waste carriers liceanse is a doddle, right off to the enviroment agency and pay £150 every three years..

Then when you got spare time on weekends go knocking doors for "unwanted" cars and scrap.

sorry mate, you need to brush up on pikey skills, just go into yards, ask whether you can take the scrap from out of the bin/old car/batteries whatever, gives you chance to eye up the contents of the yard for a return later. Fog is your friend as well, no-one suspects anyone out in daylight but dibble don't like driving in fog, think it scares them.
