Before I get raped, I've searched but can't seem to find a straight answer.

I've done a VTS engine conversion on my 1.1

My 1.1 had a keypad immobiliser in, and I disconnected that by having the engine on and unplugging the keypad from the wires going into it.

Now, from what I can see.. there is no Black immobiliser box behind the passenger side of the dash. I've had a Mate look also, and he can't find it for toffee.
Would I be right in saying that the Immobiliser is infact the Keypad in this case?

you'd be right

Think it depends on the year of the vts engine you fitted, if it was a later model the immobiliser is a transponder unit built into the key. You will not have a receiver for this on the ignition barrel on you current car, might be to do wih this

From what you've said i'd imagine its in the keypad

Black box is sometimes under the steering column in some cases (well has been everytime i've been involved with a conversion)

Hmm, Right thats good to know then :)

I'll have another look under the column just to make sure though, feck locking my ecu :D

all the immobiliser boxes we've taken out have either been in the keypad,or in the case of non keypad cars, under the glovebox on the passenger side, its the smaller of the 2 boxes, other one is for central locking, and we've done dozens of them.

yeah, I haven't got one behind there at all.

On my keypad that I had in, it had the same wire connector on the back though.

Should be :D

Yeah just seen your thread, was about to comment then Haha.
Must be mad doing it on your own, fair play! Took me about an hour with a mate and 2 jacks to get it in position properly!

Err, I believe its just the ECU now. The one I got must have been locked, or fried. It made my fuel pump go tits up and take ages to prime, and threw allsorts of lights up on the dash Lol.
