View Full Version : VTS Engine problems - No Rev counter - Strange idle tone

Right the VTS has been a project being rebuilt through the year, i have started it the odd occasion to make sure its not seized and so on.

I fitted a Saxsport system today, and ticked the car over, I had to really give it some gas to get it kicked over, and when it did kick over when I let me foot off the pedal it would cut out?

The rev counter has also stopped for some reason? Why the numbers on the dials are a funny sort of .. well, they look strange, so im assuming its a eathing fault.

i checked all fuse's and all where fine so I assume its a earth.

When i finally got it running for a while I adjusted the rev cable pin to keep it at like 2k revs to keep it running.

but when it goes to like 1k, it sounds like its cammed, :S and the engine shudders at high note of the exhaust.

I didn't have the lamba plugged in, would this effect that? Cause the problem?

Also do you know where all the earths are? So I can check them.

Thanks

The lambda would affect the running yes, also you may have some damp in the electrics(depending)on where you keep the car mate.

Thanks for the reply Stevo, I took the coil pack off and gave it a clean and some WD40 and some new plugs, and it was 'better' but its still running 'lumpy' thats the only way i can explain it, it sounds cammed but its got standard cams ...

I will do the cable for the Lambda then and see what difference it makes then :)
