Hi Guys
I have just lost my car key (and stupidly do not have a spare). To my horror I have found out it is going to cost more the £140 to get a new one!!!!
What I would like to do is to disable the immobiliser so I can get a standard key cut. Does anyone know of a step by step guide on how to do this (my boyfriend is a truck mechanic, so even if it is a bit tricky I figure it should be ok).
On a secondary note, are the ignition key numbers visible if we remove the barrel from the door so I can get a new key cut?
Alternatively, if anyone has any simpler ideas of getting access to my car, and a new key, without it costing a fortune please let me know.
Thanks for your help.

Nope your key has a transponder inside to talk to the immoboliser. You might be very very lucky and your immoboliser is already disconnected. Look up behinde the glovebox area for a lil black box. If its there your outa luck if i ant your lucky day :) lol

Does anyone know how I can disconnect it though, I'm assuming it must be possible?

You can disconnected it if cars running and it will be fine. Doing it with car of will do nothing

I don't have the key so that's not going to be possible. Is there a way to disconnect with the car off? Or a way to start the car without the key?

If the immoboliser had been disconnected by a old owner yes. If its still there no.

This is just an idea before I get slated for it lol and im probably wrong but.. could you not get an imobilizer, key and barrel from another car and plug those in to get it started?
