if its got a keypad then thats the immobiliser, if not then its the smaller of 2 black boxes up behind the glovebox

Hi mate thank you for replying, it doesn't have a keypad, I've tried looking under the glovebox but can't find any little black boxes?

Thanks

Barry

If you find make sure the car IS running when you unplug it.

Furio, I can't start the car because of the flashing immobilizer light on the dash, I was told to get an unlocked ecu and start the car then unplug the immobilizer is this wrong advice?

Cam
28th November 2011, 14:56
It is sort if you got another ecu and your immoboliser is still plugged and try to start it you will lock it.

sheephorse
28th November 2011, 15:02
So do I unplug the immobilizer then plug in my new unlocked ecu

Cheers mate

sheephorse
28th November 2011, 15:41

My ecu was from a 1997 saxo sx 1.1

sam_16v
28th November 2011, 16:34
i should imagine a east coast and a sx use exactly the same engine so it should fire up

Cam
28th November 2011, 16:47
My bet it locked due to you plugged it in with your immoboliser still there.

sheephorse
28th November 2011, 17:22
Immobilizer was definitely unplugged before I put eds ecu into the car, could this be a possible fuel pump fault ? Would this cause the car not to fireup?

Thanks Sam and ed

Hmm, whats it not actually doing? Can you here the pump priming?
I no my ecu was Unlocked when I removed it, so I'd have thought it'd fire up. providing nothing else is a miss.

sam_16v
28th November 2011, 17:27
ed's a good guy so if he says its unlocked it will be it could be fuel pump like said also have a look in your fuse box for blown fuses

sheephorse
28th November 2011, 17:36
My dad says its not priming and there isn't any smell of petrol, hope this helps

Thanks to you both

fuel pump relay (big 1) then maybe its located under the ecu

sheephorse
28th November 2011, 17:43
So it sounds like I have a faulty fuel pump then?

Cheers mate

ed-bradley
28th November 2011, 17:44

sheephorse

Hmm, as Sam said. Could just be a relay now then. Located under the Ecu, or the pump itself. I've got a relay from my old 1.1 you can have if needed. I think my old pump may be nackered though so can't help you there Lol

sheephorse
28th November 2011, 17:51

you have to take ecu and ecu tray out as relay is located under the ecu + tray make sure you take battery lead off if you disconnect the ecu :y:

sheephorse

Hi mate

Eds ecu was unlocked and before I plugged it in I disconnected the immobilizer so it shouldn't be locked, this whole thing is starting to do my head in! Will message Ed about the relay but would you think it could be this? Spoke to a guy who said that the ecu should be the same model number as my old one but you guys said it shouldn't matter
Cheers
