Who has one? Are they any good? Because of insurance and only being 19 I'd probably get the 1.6! Really fancy one.
Anyone know of any being sold let me know! Can you post some pics of yours?
My vtr is slowly failing. Maybe time to rest it

I'm always the last to be mentioned, and i've had one longer than most on here. :( As above, get one, love it.
Have you actually checked insurance on them? A 1.8 actually isn't much faster than a 1.6, since they're heavier, so insurance might be quite similar. Imports, however, are a different story...
As for pics, yeah, I can do them. :A:

Sorry titch, my brain works in alphabetical order :p
My import was just as cheap to insure as a UK 1.6, not sure how I got round that one but a sob story to the insurance companies can help. I suggest you wait til after winter before buying one although prices tend to be lower at this time. If it's your first rwd it'll be a challenge in the snow.

When I was getting quotes, they were £200 more for an import than a UK spec. :(
Yeah, MX5 in snow = Fail.

So are the eunos one the imported ones? I should avoid them? And I know the insurance would be cheaper in march when I get my no claims but I don't want to wait hah
Sophia_Bush
28th November 2011, 18:01
Eunos are the imports but generally I have found the bodywork in terms of rust and paint to be better than uk cars. Mines a J reg and totally rust free nice and solid, titch it's tempting but as said bit of a head mess as to what to do

lol, I thought i'd put some random, funny titles in them simply because I couldn't be arsed thinking of anything sensible.

If you're after cheaper insurance, I'd avoid them, yeah. As for the cars, they're generally more solid, and come with more toys, but the fact they're imports mean you pay more dollar on insurance.
titch it's tempting but as said bit of a head mess as to what to do
Keep it! Honestly man, you need to keep that thing, fit the bodies, and go abuse it with a big grin as the bodies bark when the roof's down (or off in your case).

such a shame the insurance is so much on the imports. there is a gorgeous one locally in excellent condition at a good price. if it were UK model insurance would be £700. because its an import its £1600!

Look at any review of them, and you'll see, they really are. Sure they have the hairdresser image, but absolutely every review praises the way they drive, and you can tell why. Everything's where it should be, the gear shifts are precise, the throttle response is amazing, the brakes are responsive, the steering's sharp, and PAS racks aren't too light. It's actually amazing. Only thing I feel they need is a bit more power, since they are pretty slow in a straight line.

Mine's on 125000, (not sure if it's still in kilometers though) and still going strong. Just check it over properly and base your decision on that.
My insurance is £1000 at 20 with 1NCB and 3 years driving experience. The UK model was coming up as £1300 for some reason. Lots to pay at this age but considering my first car was something like £2700 for a £500 car it's not too bad.

I have decided to sell my MK 2 MX-5/Eunos Roadster in white. This is an RS Edition which means you get all the optional extras which usually come with an RS (6 speed gearbox, Torsen LSD, Nardi steering wheel, ABS and air conditioning). It has a soft top roof with a glass heater rear window.
This was imported from Japan in 2010 and registered in October 2010. The car was imported and bought from it's previous owner in Japan and is in extremely good condition throughout.
The car is taxed until April 2012 and the current MOT runs out in October 2012. The car passed it’s MOT first time with no advisories.
The car is still in KMs and has not been converted, the mileage reads XXX.
Exterior
Side skirts, front splitter and fog lights which all come with the RS edition
Ducktail spoiler
Cusco plate relocator
Interior
A matching pair of carbon kevlar backed Recaros (I’ve seen a set of these sell at over £800 on Ebay, the car could be sold slightly cheaper without these). I still have the standard seats.
4-point carbing roll cage
Alpine head unit with Ipod connection
JDM roadster mats
Wheels and Suspension
Bilstein adjustable coilovers
16 x 8 ET20 Rota Grid Drifts painted white
195/45/15 Toyo T1Rs – partly worn but still plenty tread
Dash strutbrace with master cylinder stopper
Engine & Exhaust
I had a full system made by Complete Auto Solutions in Shotts
Mazdaspeed HT leads
Alarm
Toad Ai606 cat 1
The car is located in Edinburgh.
£4000 – No lowballers please :-)

I'm 19, got a 1.6 Eunos Roadster as a project. It's an L reg import, and I'll be paying £600 for 6 months on our multicar policy at home.
It's an awesome car, although not the most economical xD

Got to remember it's only a small tank, they aren't great but you can easily get 30+mpg out of them if you're careful. Loud pedal does ruin my mpg though lol

they are shocking on fuel comparing similar fuel prices 106 gti full tank at £55 @ 127/128.9 got me around 310-330 miles full tank the mx5 full tank about £45 just about got me 300km yes km!!

29th November 2011, 14:28
Tom, they're 3l bigger tanks than 106/Saxos (45l plays 48l IIRC), but yeah, 30mpg is what I average. :( That's really not that good though.

29th November 2011, 14:36
They're bigger than the Saxo?? Shit I didn't think they were that bad, I used to get 300 miles to a tank in the saxo and that was running like a bag of crap. I'll be lucky to see 200 in the Eunos!

Dori are you on mx5nutz? Sure you sound like a girl who just done the same.
On another note my mates brother just got an auto eunos for £150, its on 200k.
Take it steady in the rain unless you have good tyres, almost lost it earlier when on a slight kink in the road, not even trying to provoke it.
Thank got I know my tyres are crap so expect it all the time!

Haha, tbh it's just ideas being thrown around at the moment; I think that was the newest plan when I first got the car! There's been a fair few different designs drawn up, I've decided to keep them to myself until it comes closer to the time and then decide on my favourite few to share with people before it goes up north for a good spraying :y:
