Didnt know where to post this, so stuck it in here. Basically how long on average does it take to sand an alloy to bare metal? I've never done it before and in 2-3 hours it looks to me like all 4 are nearly finished. Is that an average time or too short? Dont want them bodged lol.

Mouse sander, takes literally 20% of the time..
Why sand to bare metal though?

Well not all the way to bare metal, but i've had to sand pretty hard as the wheels were dented and scratched to fuck

You can usually tell if the wheel is prepared by looking at it rather than timing yourself. Sanding a wheel isnt like baking a cake taking a certain amount of time.

Use filler on them for dents and scratches, take too much off and they will be slightly unbalanced.

use filler for the dents and scratches, you only have to score them mate to get the primer to set properly.

Put some paint stripper on them mate,if the paint comes off then that means you havnt done it properly and the first time you wash your car the paint will run off. If the paint stays then job done :y:

jack up the car, put it in gear and start it up then sand it while the wheel spins, only take a few mins

this technique is great for sanding the sides of multispokes.
