Just taxed the car, it was up end of oct last as was t he MOT, I couldn't at the time afford the MOT and without the MOT I couldn't tax it, I just left the car on private land and thought I would tax it the following month when the repairs were done.
Anyway as I didn't declare it sorn for the month (didn't see much point in doing so as the dvla are usually so slow) its meant there is a gap in tax and the woman said I could get a fine?
I've previously done this before on another car and I didn't get fined so my question is has anybody body been fined for doing this & any ideas how much?

Yeah, I'm hoping they will just ignore it as I said before I left my car for something like 15 days with the same issue and didn't receive a fine hmmm

New law that came out not long ago, remember them threads where people thought all cars they own HAVE to be taxed or scappred even on private land.
Basically the car has to have a status other than expired tax. Or you get a fine after so long.

I left a car off the road for 2 years without it being sorn, lost the logbook, applied for another and sorn'd it online. When i did so, it said a representative will be in contact with regards to a gap in the tax/sorn. 6 Month later i'm still waiting :)

Btw the fine was £70 I think, halfed if you pay within a certain time but you have to pay like £40 to pay the fine
Pretty sure it costs to ring up and pay aswell.

Apply online and wait for a letter.
Happened to me last year when I was working away from home and it had to MOT'd at the same time (there abouts, had to wait until i had a few days holidays before i could do the lot) pretty sure I got fined £40
