It takes me about 5 attempts to get it into reverse every time. Usually i have to find the bite, gear box crunches... then it slides in fine? also getting into first can be a mission, lots of squeaking and doesnt seem very smooth! am i in need of new linkages, or?

My VTR is sometimes hard to/doesent go into revers 1st time so I put into neutral lift off clutch, then put clutch down n put into reverse works all the time for me.

Same problem here, i find just whacking it into 1st then putting it back in reverse normally does the trick.
Same happens with my girlfriends Ka too.

same happens with mine, just take your foot off the clutch between changing from 1st to reverse and it will go in fine :y:

Check gearbox oil.
Infact renew the gearbox oil put decent stuff in and only the recommended stuff.
This should help
