Hey there...im new to this site. Thought id become a member seein as ive recently invested in a new bit of kit :) but im after some help.. the saxo i bought has had a engine conversion done by one of the previous owners but now i need to replace the clutch and im unsure what year the engine is... is there anyway i can tell or find out the age by lookin on the block anywhere? any help will be appreciated!

take it that its had a 16 valve fitted? if so there are only 2 types of clutch, a good guide to age of the engine is the number of plugs on the ecu, also most components such as coil pack have dates of manufacture on them, which is only good if they've never been replaced

Yea its the 16v. i did hear about the number of plugs on the ecu. 1 and 3 pin.. is this right? And what is the way of telling which is newer?

3 plug are the newer,2001 onwards engines
