i need to be able to learn with it, and take some decent pictures with it.

also software thinking of getting adobe photoshop elements 10 via the mac app store 56.00 mainly as i cant afford the full software :home:

anyone got any good tips at getting money off or freebies with the camera?

looking at eventually getting a form of added income, my mate does weddings and corporate events and needs help sometimes

Seems a little extreme for a "starting out" camera. Although its not really high end either.

As for software, it depends how much processing you need to do. I've only ever used Photoshop 7, and although it's old, it does everything I need. Can get it off the web for free.

You might be better off looking at a second hand D90 as they usually come with the 18-105mm vr lens in the kit, which is a much more versatile lens, and provides better picture quality.
The 18-55mm is pretty limited, if you fancy a lower spec camera you can pick up a refurbed D3100 body for sub £350 and then I'll sell you my 18-55mm for £50 ;)

As long youre confident that photography is for you then go for it, if you're tentative then look for a second hand bridge camera that has full manual control and play first.
