Having never done it before how long will it last. Everything has been sandblasted primed with acid etch two coats and two coats of gloss .

I stripped it all back, applied red oxide primer then painted with a paint / waxoyl blend to ensure it stays nice. Then waxoyl'd on top of that lol. I really don't want it to rust.
Just paint and primer won't last long at all, stones will chip away at it and it'll just flake off.

Thats what I thought. May start again but go down the powdercoat route :-)

Or just waxoyl the paint you've just put on so it's not wasted?
Not a gloss finish then but it's protected.

The fact that you have just etched and painted the under body means its going to be rusted like f**k by the end of winter. You have not used any rubberised stone chip paint to absorb any impacts and you have no real rust prevention other than acid etch primer that will be 2-3 micron thick so just a stone chip and you got rust again.

I get what you mean about it chipping but the car is a project and wont be on the road till next year at least. Niether will it get used much just to show off and take to track days as I already have a runabout.
