View Full Version : Worst journey?

Just got back from work, and well let's just say I had a passenger who I agreed to take home, however this passenger is a bit on the................ large size. 25 stone in fact. I was a bit scared if I'm being honest. My last MOT came out with an advisory of rust on the passenger side front suspension, and as soon as they sat in the car it just went sideways. I don't want to sound rude but my god, the steering isn't power steering, so as you can imagine, I was literally fighting the wheel to keep to the right! Also needed a solid 4000RPM I reckon in first to pull away lol.
Anyway, what has your worst journey where you have been driving? Do tell!

LOL!
My two worst journeys would be last Christmas driving from near Aylesbury/High Wycombe to York during the worst of the snow. The further north i went the less of the M1 i could see. Also i didn't have any wipers as the motor fuse had gone.
The other one was about three years ago from Newcastle to York when the bad snow had just started. Went to fill the car up. Was really cold, but roads were ok. By the time I had filled up the road was covered white. It took me about 4 hours to do a 1.5 hour drive. It was shit!

Ah I am fortunate enough not to have driven in full on snow yet. I know its high gears and low revs, but I know my tyres are awful on the tread atm!

driving in snow to portsmouth from darlo, guy also pulled out on me in motorway, drove up onto central reservation, missed armco just, missed turn off at that point too, next turn around wasnt for another 20 miles, so we went a diff way down, but it was shit no cars had drove down it, side ways around round abouts, altho that was me doing that haha

I watch this also, you ever seen the one with the 747 where the cockpit snapped of 35.000ft in the air and the plane kept going up and down for about 30 mins before ploughing into the sea, they reakon 90% of passengers where still conscious until it hit the water. Fuck that!

Coming back from Newcastle on the 11th of December this year.
Me, my sister in law, and my friend Danielle were minding our own business, singing along to One Direction (You don't know your beautiful- Oh oh) when someone on the other side of the road started flashing his headlights at us pretty furiously, came round the corner and there was a white EJ9 civic smashed up in the middle of the road, its engine about 4 or 5 feet out the car, with a red 307 estate on the grass verge. I got out and asked if there were any doctors / nurses / first aiders on the scene, there were none so I went over to the boy in the civic - his face was smashed to bits, and his legs were trapped. the floor of the civic had been ripped out and it was bare concrete under his feet. He was semi concious but in a bad way. I had my sister in law hold his head while I checked on the girls from the 307. They were ok, one was up and walking, other was lying down with a bad back. Other people were with them, and I asked someone to hold the girls head still and keep her talking so I went back to the other lad and held his head whilst we were waiting on the abulance / fire engine etc to arrive. Held it whist the fire men cut the roof of the car off.
The boy in the civic was coming southbound and the girls north when he lost control of his car, spun, and hit them head on. His face was completley caved in. I HATE blood - i had a nose bleed on Saturday night and I fainted - but I managed to deal with this boy.
I just hated the fact that I had to tell other people what to do - in those kinda situations you want to be TOLD what to do. Police took my details etc and I drove away and burst into tears. I'm a really strong person and am used to giving first aid and accidents when I'm teaching but that was the worst journey of my life.

Damn, I can only imagine how bad and traumatic that was. Seriously well done though for stopping and taking control. In those situations if you have 4 people who don't have a clue and do nothing, a persons life is in much more danger.

Ex who asked me a few times at the very, very fucking last minute to drive her to her mates and she would stay there all weekend. Then pick her up and driving her back home. The catch was she lived 220 miles away, so multiply that by 4 trips and we're talking a good 900 miles total, petrol out of my own pocket. Basically I spend the whole fucking weekend driving the princess. She did that twice, I made sure it didn't happen a third time.

Obviously at some point into our relationship she figured I could be her own personal taxi no matter what the distance was. The third time I said no, and hell came out of her eyes. I had to explain to her that her little fancy weekends with her mates cost me over £100 a pop, with me ending up driving the whole fucking weekend.
What I didn't like was to be asked at the very last minute after doing 200+ miles, as in "This weekend I am going to see my friends while you wait for my phone call to drive me back home. What's wrong honey, we'll spend plenty of time together in the car". On top of that she was expecting me to do 100 mph+ on the motorways etc, "drive faster I'm bored, my previous ex had a fast Merc etc ". Thing was, she was a little paris Hilton type with daddy owning a chain of hotels etc, expecting to have everything handed to her when and where she wanted it. That didn't last long. Bitch. She still did try to get us back together a few times, and how she missed me blahblahblah. Easily qualifies as my worst journeys, took me a whole freaking day once to drive her ass through traffic jams etc.
