Has anyone suffered or is currently in agony from the pain of wisdom teeth poking through? Feels like my mouths giving birth to something and strong pain killers ain't doing the job :(

Any ideas on how to ease the pain?

Mine came though about a year ago

A operation at the hospital for 45 minutes (Whole thing lasted the day) and i had to have 2 days off of work due to infection.

Hurt like hell, but now all 3 are removed. I couldn't eat for 2 days. My mouth was swollen and my gums felt huge. I tried eating a big mac after coming out of Hospital and it was tasteless due to the fact they numb your mouth. Then i bit my tongue lol

Yup, mine give me hell sometimes, makes my cheek ache. <------ I have royally set myself up there, if noone abuses that comment I will be shocked.

Anyway I just grind through the pain. Never taken painkillers because of it.

I think too many toffees has caused this flare up.. Does pain indicate that its infected?

Sex is the best 'natural' painkiller :y:

My wisdom teeth hurt for two days then were alright, lucky me :A:

I don't think toffee's have anything to do with it. Its just one of those things said my dentist.

The pain is the wisdom teeth fighting for space among your other teeth. As you don't use your wisdom teeth and they are pointless, 9/10 people have them removed.

I have to agree with you on that one, my right side ones have came through already and the bottom one has a gap and everything I eat gets stuck in their!

And sex can cure illness not pain lol

Get to the dentist as you've probably got food trapped under the flap of skin and is causing an infection so you'll probably get antibiotics. Also an antiseptic/chlorhexidine mouthwash can help. If you do get antibiotics try and get amoxicillin (providing you aren't allergic) as the other they will probably try to give is metronidazole and you can't drink at all on that.

Think about 35% of people don't get wisdom teeth any more... Or so wikipedia says.

Mine have been coming through for a while, top ones are ok, but the bottom ones are a pain in the arse. On my left side it's growing sideways and coming back in to my mouth, but not broken the skin yet so they are leaving it, on the right side it seems to have stopped coming through but there is a hole where I can see it and as Tommo says, keeps getting infected and hurts like hell...

how old are you again Dave? 24?

I hope mines don't come through - my mum went through hell with hers and was still in and out the dentist at like 34 having them removed etc. they even managed to remove a wrong tooth... oops

Aye 24, been coming through for a few years now, think the top ones started when I was 19ish

They come through when you've turned into a lad, well thats basically what my dentist said. Not everyone gets them, only clever blokes. 9\10 the dentist will get them taken out if it causes to much did comfort.

Ibuprofen and paracetamol used alternately, also rinsing with salt water to clear infection. I was in agony with mine!

Never had any bother with mine that i can remember anyway. Top 1s are removed anyway. Got both out at same time, were a cunt to come out, 1 of them had twisted roots.

Worst part of getting them removed is the fact they are at the back, closest to your ears, and the crunching noise is fukin horrible.

VTR_Bass87

Seems like most of you still see your dentist, I haven't bothered going for 11 years lol think its time for a check up or removal, still in agony and I need to eat.

Whats the actual point in wisdom teeth? other than being a pain in the arse/mouth to everyone?
Mine are starting to come through, not hurting at all though..so far anyway.

I have had three of mine out.

Top two were growing into the other teeth and were severly impacted so I had to have them removed under general.

The other was removed under sedation, never felt a thing and no pain afterwards.

The two where I was asleep needed a week off work, they hurt like fuck afterwards for some reason.

Two of mine grew in on the piss. An X-ray showed the other two were going to do the same, so dentist recommended having all four out at hospital. Apart from living off soup for a few days, it was no bother at all.

I find the salt water helps tbh.

devilsadvocate
29th December 2011, 17:13
Have you had them xrayed to make sure they are not impacting the other teeth?

Could be the pain you get and nothing will make that go away, need to be whipped out :)

MiniGibbo

Mine only started hurting day before yesterday :S

Best to get them checked out, they are easier to remove if they are less impacted.

Longer you leave it, the more chance you will need a general to have them out!
