if you play on it a lot, i'd recommend one. If not just make sure its well ventilated.

i've got one on front of mine well did have taken it off fans gone noisy going to get new one. i moved my ps3 other week to where sky box was on tv stand quite a big space was playing other day the fans inside started working overtime touched console it was overheating i've now put it back where was stood behind tv stays cool all time with fans on the case always felt cold got mine from pc world
