hi all. first things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

any ways, i own a saxo vtr mk1, blacktop engine.

seems to rev high when starting, smokes a little out the exhuast but not dark smoke. no mayo in oil but cud it still be the head gasket??

2ndly, would or has any body fitted a Xsara vts engine in a saxo?? if so how easy is it??

3rdly, planning on doin a big service. i.e brake pads/discs/fluid, coolant flush and new rad, ht leads, spark plugs, induction kit, oil change/filter and fuel filter. so here is the list of things im plannin on replacing them with but was wondering what you guys recomend.

ht leads- 8mm magtec silicone

pads/ discs - mintex vented discs/EBC yellow stuff pads

brake fluid - ??

coolant - ??

spark plugs - bosh 4 point spark

oil - ??

fuel/oil filters - ??

rad - alaminum lightweight rad.

Any help/suggestions greatfuly recieved :D:y:

I recomend NGK spark plugs. Is the smoke from the exhaust white, if so its probably steam.

Revving high will likely be the ICV, there is a guide on here which explains how to remove and clean it.

As said above, a small amount of smoke on start up is nothing to worry about.

Xsara VTS engine has been covered many times, do a quick search. From what I remember, the weight you gain with the engine plus the expense doesn't justify getting one put in....unless im thinking of something else, someone will correct me if im wrong!

Just go on, carparts4less and get the service bits you need.
