It's the cat on the down pipe, any ideas? I've taken my car for mot and that is one of the things it failed on.....

15minutes maybe 20 if some nuts are tough. Take it for a drive first to get heat into them. Dont burn yourself though!

Well I took my car down yesterday and they said the parts won't come till 2mro so to ring back today at 1, so I did and they said yeah it will be ready for half 5, just ring before you set off, so I spoke to them again and they said it wont be ready till 2mro afternoon? It's only failed on a cat an a ball joint. 3days. Slightly pissed off. Could of done the work myself :/

Probably got other work to do in between or other people calling in wanting problems diagnosed!

depends how experienced you are tbh
ive never removed a mk2 cat so couldnt say
changed many exhaust systems though and the nuts/bolts are usually a nightmare. Almost always rounded off and corroded.
Get the angle grinder at the ready ;)

Should be six bolts, four at the top and two at the bottom.
As said above 15-20 minutes

Ino I appreciate that, it's just because it a small garage and they take on too much work, then will fully book for mots and then won't leave enough time for repairs. Just annoying when didn't expect it be that long. But I understand the situations.

Just put abit of pressure on them and they will make it a priority.
If its a small garage I guess they only have 1 or two lifts/ramps. One for MOTs and another which is always in use, might have a big jobbie on it too!

parts can be a nightmare. could be that they have been let down by their supplier happens to us very rare but there coul dhav ebeen a choice and they had to order the correct one but didn't know it untill one turned up so then your car would have been put on the back burner untill the correct part arrived. then you've got the tackle the bolts for the mani. i know for a fact that on the cat bolts someone has rounded mine off (before i bought it) so it'll be a right game to change the cat come m.o.t time ( i think its about fubar)
