Hopefully sax p can help me decide what to do, currently have a 51 1.8 astra sri how ever im getting sent further away to work ranging between 30miles a day and 110miles day and averaging 34mpg in the astra. It's really hurting the pocket being only 18 and just by chance i stumbled across this on gumtree http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/peugeot-306-dturbo-subtle-mods-and-recent-spray-job/93932890 , question is do i take the dive for cheaper running and inurence costs or do I keep the astra?

if its really hurting your pocket that bad you will take the dive, the peugeot is a very nice car and in the long run you might even save money and move on from the peugoet and on to something bigger and better than the astra...
your choice though.

I live quite a way from birtly mate, thinking about going to view it tommorow but the only thing putting me off is the blowers needing fixed, dunno if it would be a pig or not, also how quick are thease when played with? would a tuned one see off a vtr?

if you turn the turbo up, injectors up, front mount, theyre about the same as a vts standard tbh

where bouts you live like? id be super weary of that mate, its been on loads lately. the lad that advertised it has been posting on gumtree since 2008..... trader

its not rght...why spend that much time/effort on it if you were gonna sell it for £700ono... and with the probs...could be headgasket/axle or anything

Blyth mate and tbh it sounds a decent motor engine swap for a lower millage unit etc the lad reccons hes getting rid for a bigger turbo car, and tbh thease cars seem to go for pennys thease days this is the most expenisve ive seen one up for lol, might go and have a look but what does everyone reccon on the heater blowers?

not far..trust me mate, steer clear of that one

thats about the going rate for a decent one..not that they often pop up..but with all that work, your not gonna make money on it..funny how its had a few weeks worth of work and nearly got a full ticket ;)

edit0- but the heaters could be as simple as a fuse..although if you can do all the work done...it would beg the question of why havent te heaters or simple jobs been fixed for sale

That 306 awful, the advert is shit and the car just screams "fucked" to me- I'd run a mile!

Steer well clear of that car... If you took the car as it is in the pictures, it's not even 700 ono, it's probably going to be closer to 1000 ono cos he wants 100 to keep the half leather in, 40 for the amp and god knows how much for the wheels on, or they get taken out and put back to standard.

As Blackie says, why would he be selling after having all that work done? And even when you consider he's had all that work done, and couldn't stretch to a pound to supply and fit an O ring? Bullshit. You mention an engine swap as well, seems like it's just had an engine swap tbh, gotta wonder why? If it was ragged to shit and blew, then you've gotta wonder what the state of all the other components, e.g. clutch, are like.

Even after all that, it's in gold and has a smoothed bonnet, which should make the best of people close that ad to begin with! Steer clear mate, go find another that is standard and a decent base for you to build on, they aren't expensive cars.
