Hey guys

Whats the best way to get rid of oil gunk from the engine bay?

Oil has leaked from the cam covers down the side of the engine block and onto the gear box, Iv used engine cleaner/degreaser and then tried to wipe with a cloth but just it just seems to be scratching the surface and not really getting any of it off.

Any tips or tools or produces thats I could use/try?

Thanks.

I would second gunk, I got the spray one and I didn't even have to wash it off as the spray itself just lifted the oil off.

At £5 a can I went through 3 but this allowed me to do the entire engine and bay

Swarfega 'jizer' is also good stuff, not just because it has an amusing name. As above just spraying it on removes it then you can wipe off easy as!

run the engine for a while so it heats up, i would use a toothbrush or something like that and soapy water and gunk

Gunk is good for doing most cleaning jobs involving oil.

Paraffin and an old paint brush will lift everything.
