So should really post my Saxo on here by now.

Here she is

Things that need doing this coming week while I am off work -
Nearside mirror is beat up, needs a new one
Nearside wing is dull needs t-cut

Things when the weather is dry
All the plastic bumper bits need to come off and resprat matt or satin black
Roof is really manky, needs respray

Not to bothered about alloys etc, I'll get some on there if I stumble upon a cheap set.

About repairs - as said the roof is horrible, I was gonna respray it etc when the weather is more reliable, here's the state of it now -

Now I've started questioning the wisdom of trying to do it the original colour, question is -
Do you guys think it'd look good/bad if I do that center section of the roof in matt or satin black? OR, what about some of this vinyl stuff?

Next up, at some point it's had a touch of welding done near the driver side rear arch - here

Do you think I should try smooth it down and respray, or can someone point me to some skirts that are designed for flat arch saxos that'd cover up that particular sin?

Other than these bits there's not alot else I wanna do with it, maybe get a de-badged grill etc but nothing big.

Cheers all.

Roof I would sand down with 400 wet and dry then get it covered with satin black vinyl.

The sill I would grind back all the welds until smooth then fill the pin holes and uneven parts to make it all smooth and uniform. Then stone chip the full sill using something like u-pol gravitex. Then paint with the existing car colour to get it all looking factory. Or you could fit the sills from a saxo vt pretty easily with the front wings and front bumper for the half vt look pretty cheap mate.

once its all tidy'd up it should look like a nice clean car mate.

As above that sill does need treating fairly soon though to prevent rust.O`h & a word of warning t-cut has a bad reputation for good reasons to bring the wing back up use a cutting compound like G3 then wax after.

I don't mind the half VT look, I was up the breakers yard the other day for a wheel cradle, which I got from a VTR, was half tempted to have the kit off that but I don't really know what is involved in actually fixing such a kit, so left it pending further reserch.
See I also kinda fancy the vinyl roof thing but you're the first person who's agreed with me on the idea. Is it difficult to apply the stuff?

Thanks for that Stevo I'll have a look for some of this G3 stuff. The wing only really looks dull when viewed at particular angles but I might has well tend to it.
By treating the sill, I assume you mean just painting+laquering or otherwise weather-proofing it?

There's a little voice in my head keeps saying "strip the lot and spray it satin black", I'm fairly handy with a rattle-can from restoring old bikes but never taken on anything car sized.

here's a thought, what about going with
The black roof
Black half VT kit

So leave the current black bumpers/trims black, add black half VT kit, black roof, the rest left green as it is. 2 tone saxo

What do ya think?

The Roof is easy and its best to go with a vinyl rather than spray paint as the vinyl will give a better finish and look smoother.

Vt kit is easy to fit there is a guide on here and all you need to do is drill the holes for the vt kit clips. Or you can just use tiger seal / polyurethane sealer to stick the kit on.
