They'd send you a nip to the registered owner asking who the driver was

like if im on a motorway and doing over thje speed limit, say a camera caught me or a cctv, how can they tell whos driving, at night, or would they just fine the car owner?
Because you said you have in the first sentence.

Say it was a fleet vehicle and any of the employees could have been driving, if no one owns up surely they cant have a case?

If the police were on the side of a motorway with a portable camera or speed detector then they would likely stick on their lights and be on your rear before you knew it....pretty obvious who is driving then.
I think if you say someone else was driving and they deny it then the registered owner of the car gets the points maybe?

They charge the registered keeper in the company. That's how it works as my dad's work.

Most forward facing cameras have infra red flash. You can't see it, but it lights you up like a glow worm.
Rear facing cameras AFAIK, you get a NIP through, and you have to confirm who the driver was at the time.

this has been done before, by someone i know very well ;)
say person A goes through a camera at 90 on a motorway, person A gets a letter through the door a couple of days after saying they have 3 points and a £60 fine, person A then contacts the DVLA and asks for proof of the car speeding, a couple of days later person A gets a letter through the door showing the back of the car, person A then contacts the DVLA again saying it may not of been him driving, person B is also insured on the car and they were on a long drive and so swapped over, none of them can remember who was driving at that particular point. the DVLA withdraws the fine and points
this works boys, believe :y: ;)
