Please, stop posting topics about a news story you've found in the daily mail.

The majority of the stories have been altered to please the uneducated. And the amount of times they've been proven to be false is beyond a joke.

I'm all up for discussing a news article, but take it from the BBC, Sky news etc where it hasn't been written by idiots, for idiots.

There seems to be a lot of these links cropping up today. Hence the thread.

Peace x

Agree.

Who wants to read about a poor baby drowning?

OP of that thread needs a word with herself.

Dave - I'm sticking it to the man. Power to the people etc etc.

Brettles - it was that Ha_x3 person that influenced it to be honest.

Liam - As said, the BBC tend to be better. I know every paper will try to engage the reader by using certain grab words. But the daily mail just spouts out complete bull shit (Usually hinting at racial motives) to get the twats of the nation talking.

Nice things generally don't make the news, no-one seems to want to know

Its fun to read the comments though from all these high and mighty people who incidentally are mostly: the jobless, the "feckless" (as they love that word) and expats. They'll spend hours slagging people off even though the people commenting are just like the people that are featured in the stories and articles.

Yup the comments back up my point about the articles being written for idiots.

9 x out of 10 the headlines include the words "Immigrant", "Black", "Racist", "Sharia Law" "Jobs", "Jordan" ... etc. Just words that instantly get the thicko's fired up ready to type some bullshit about how the country has been ruined by people of a different relgion.

No it genuinely is, although I only tend to read it online lol

I don't really look into which paper tells what, they all exaggerate the truth to some extent surely? Although the big thing in Liverpool is "Don't read the scum" (Sun)

this makes me

Problem with a paper that only reported nice things, is that when there is a major world disaster, like an earthquake or terror attack, what do you do? Not report it and ignore? Lose business because people want to read about that? I was saying this to the missus, a news channel that reported only good things would be awesome, cos there is too much shit in the world that we hear about. But as soon as something major happens, you'd get accused of ignoring it...

Yep they do, and slight exaggeration to sell a story is fine. And preparing a back up story before a trial is common. But when you write a whole page of bullshit "Looked shocked" etc then publish it and it turns out to be the wrong story. It proves my point fantastically lol.

The only time I read the paper is when it's slow in work, it's purely to take my boredom away, I get most of my news off BBC / ITV and on here etc

Probably, but it's the spin they put on it to try and get people to see it in the light they wish them to see it, i.e. the girl drowning, making it out like public pools are a disgrace for not having to be supervised, when they could have said it's a disgrace that parents aren't supervising such a young child 100% at a swimming pool, or just reporting it for what it is, an accident.

Same with the OAP and girl, make a villain out of the OAP for not giving up his licence and barely mentioning the fact he died as well, when his circumstances may have not been clear cut, and putting emphasis on his eye sight as oppose to the unintended acceleration, which is suspected to be the cause anyway. The average person doesn't delve deep enough, so they can spin it however they want...

If it's a story such as "Body found on Queen's Estate". There's not much they can do there to juice it up.

If a white girl gets attacked by a bunch of coloured girls, they're all over it adding their racially provoked motives etc. When the white girl probably started the fight in the first place.

It's things like that I'm on about.

could report some of the good things that happen, such as the people saved etc, but then again, like you say, could come across as ignoring it.

You could say that about almost any newspaper or news agency, including the BBC. They're usually written by journalists with an agenda espousing a certain political view. The difference with the Mail is that they're less than subtle and obviously sensationalise things to shift papers, sometimes being less than generous with the truth.

I don't read the Mail but the thing I most like about it is that in some ways their views on things like immigration (and such like) serve as a counter-balance between some of the politically correct nonsense we're fed by other sources.

Perhaps because it isn't the most vile, incandescent propaganda that is available to the British public.

Should I happen upon a copy at the local store tomorrow, would you recommend that I adorn myself with a tin-foil hat before reading?
