Right, so firstly i am looking on the dva site as we speak so manu dont get all clever

Just looking into getting one, sites saying they are the cheapest around, but im guessing then i still have to pay some kind of fee to transfer it? From what it looks like dvla price there is nothing hidden, so am i better off just buying from there? Or are these other sites better value?

What else needs to be done once purchased?

Dvla direct everytime. most plates still come threw them and the "cheap" companys jsut add a few pence on and dont mention the transfer fee..

love the white writing.

Erm, not sure if it's different on the IOM but just to keep my reg plate on the saxo, transfer it onto the van, and get the next available reg on the saxo cost me over £100.

But I would stick with the official DVLA. better to be safe than sorry.

yeah ive looked on a few sites, noticed they dont include vat either, so not cheap once thats on and then the transfer, cant decide which one i like best

Y23TES
Y27TES
Y29TES

numbers mean fuck all, thinking 29 looks better for now

Yep you are best off buying direct from Dvla if you can see the one you're interested in on there, the price quoted by them is all in. When i bought mine they just sent me my certificate and i sent it off with all my documents, literally about a week later it was on the car. I'm not sure what extra charges get put on when you buy from a company selling regs though.

Gay plates tbh..

You want a single number, stop being a tight cunt.

I've just got mine from the DVLA, definately direct from them everytime, no hidden charges what you pay includes the assignment fee's. Just the ball ache of queueing up in the local DVLA office to get it all transfered

lol at calling me tight, couldnt be more obvious that you dont know me

cant get single numbers for it, Y4TES used to be up for sale, but it was 100k, i doubt you would be spending that much on a plate

Obviously 4 would be expensive but what about 7?

Lad my brother was good mates with had the plates "d7vep" and on his car it looked the don tbh. dont think it cost the earth or at least didnt cost him 100k.

Id personally take any single number over a double when its doable.

EDIT: at a push Y47tes, other wise it just looks like all the really cheap nasty plates you see like "n867 ann" they just shout CHEAP imo of course.

YOU CANT GET ANY WITH SINGLE NUMBERS ACCORDING TO THE DVLA

you can get Y14TES, but im not spending 3k on one if i get one.

you cant get 47, you can get 20, 23, 27, 29, 30, 90, then it goes to 3 figures, these are all 400 quid, to me it doesnt matter what the number is, its always going to read yates, due to the y?tes

if you have to think about what it's trying to say it isn't worth buying. PP are a waste of moniez anyway.

The price advertised on the dvla is the all in price.

Earns the gov a fortune, theyre somewhat out of style now.

Dvla hold the majority of plates (obviously) other companies like regtransfer have all the dvla ones which they buy on your behalf then add commission on top but they also have more valuable ones on retention. So check companies like them if dvla don't have the plate you want as they might have it on retention.

like today I saw a car...

GF: 'oh look, lol, it say's "lucky"... kind of...'
ME: 'It looks shit'

I won that argument.

MiniGibbo
14th January 2012, 16:25
I didnt ever bother with them as ad adsayer said they have to be 100% obvious other wise they are a waste..

Lucky for me i found the ideal plate :A:

None of the ones you said are available work imo.

but you were looking at AD 54YER?!

i remember talking to you about them

plus youve always said S4XO D looked smart, it doesnt matter if someone else cant see what it says then who cares? if you walked up to my car, knowing my names yates and you see Y29TES you know exactly what its saying.

im not really arsed what everyones opinion is on personal reg plates, i bet the rest of you piss your money on other stuff id consider worthless, shit and a waste.

I bought mine from the DVLA, they sent me a certificate, took that to my local DVLA centre, they supplied me with a new MOT certificate and tax disc, got new plates made up and it was sorted, all for £250, would recommend

29 definitely looks best.

Don't care what anyone says about private plates, if you want one for your personal satisfaction fuck everyone else.

I still have M8X DJ which I'll never sell as everyone I know associates the plate with me. Got S4XO D on the new car but it doesn't actually mean anything to me personally so if someone asked to buy it, I'd sell it without even thinking.

I've always used Newreg for any plates I've bought/sold. Their service is excellent

Got mine from dvla, the price on the site included everything. All of the other sites usually have hidden fees as they go through dvla anyway. Basically, If theres a Plate for sale it'll be on there, if it isn't it doesn't exist.

AD 54YER - they wouldn't (thankfully) sell to me or anyone. Realise now, it'd just be an invitation to people who hate me on saxp and xbox to trash my beloved car.

standard plate = incognito = win.

you drive a vts at 25mph in a 30, and at 65 on a motorway nobody does that in an s, you stand out

Barry123
14th January 2012, 22:36
I did 50 on a motorway for no reason whatsoever yesterday

No word of lie... a yellow Bmw (no idea what E rating thingy) came alongside me for a couple of seconds then blasted off. I thought Gibbo, but then he probably would've, understandably, smashed me off the road.

cos you are a prick thats why! people who go under the speed limit, or at it on a motorway just annoy me!

Barry123

craig180

Those that mention hidden fees are obviously incapable of reading...

The only fees are £80 transfer and VAT at 20%

Those that can't figure out how to multiply by 1.2 then add £80 don't deserve the exclusivity of a private plate ;)
