Good news - we're giving you even faster broadband, for less.

You're already getting the UK's fastest widely available broadband, and starting this summer we'll be starting the roll-out to boost your speeds from up to 100Mb to up to 120Mb. We'll also be lowering the price of your broadband package in April to match the price of our 50Mb Broadband XXL packages.

These are nice extras we do to make you smile. We call them Virgin Media tickles, and we only give them to people we know and like - our customers.

Our ongoing commitment to offering the UK's fastest broadband.

Virgin Media offers the fastest broadband speeds in the UK*, as proven by Ofcom for three years in a row. And we're committed to keeping it this way. Which is why we're upgrading our award winning fibre optic network over the next 18 months.

As part of this upgrade, you may have seen we'll be doubling many of our customers' broadband speeds. But, because you already get our fastest broadband, we're upgrading you to up to 120Mb and giving you a discount instead.

Im only on 10 meg lol..... Then they send me this one !

Hello there,

Oops! That last email, 100Mb Broadband Announcement, was sent in error.

Please ignore this, and rest assured current Virgin Media Cable Broadband customers will be receiving some good news about their broadband in the next 2 weeks. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

What are you planning to sue for? lol

Our service desk sends emails to say the systems are being taken down this weekend, then something happens and we send out a retraction email.....the users don't sue us :)

Think yourself luckly you are getting an increase in speed at all, lots of people who live in the sticks only get 2mb.

Luckily we are on 50mb and we did get that email....100mb for us soon :)

Not that we need that speed to view web pages of course...

lucky you, we have been with virgin since they were fucking cable and wireless back in the day !!!!

we currently pay £25 for 10mb internet. over £100 per month for extra boxes, xxl tv and sky sports..

tried to call virgin media saying we were not happy that new customers were getting 50 for the price of our 10 but the guy said the only way they could change it was if we left, they came out took all the boxes away and then we became a "new customer"

pretend to give you something, but in reality, it's not.

you just need to speak to customer relations, they would probably sort you out.

Customer services are useless though.

Virgin are upgrading their network, so all but those on the basic package are getting bumped up for free.
Think they were trying to tease you?

Could be a ruse to advertise thier new speeds to people who are on lower packages in the hope of getting a few customers, clever really if that's what they have done.

Exactly the reason why I left Virgin Media, NEVER to return, my first ever broadband package was with them and I had the same issue, new customers were paying a lot less than existing customers, and customer service basically said tough luck, so I cancelled with them and moved to O2. Won't even look at a VM flyer now, even if their fibre optic is the best in the country, their service sucks arse

I personally have had NO problems with VM at all. Apart from about two periods of downtime in about 8 years. What i do hate is their crafty way of not telling me im payin too much compared to other.

I phoned a guy up about a year ago and said im sorry but this is just a joke, So im playin 25 quid a month for this service blaa blaa..... His response was, Oh yeah that is quite a lot actually. I was thinkin so whos fuckin fault is that.

Im gonna bell them and just say "look, sky are offering me 20 gig and a free blowjob for 8 quid a month" , Better it, or im off ! See what he says lol.

I'm on the 10 mb service and to be honest its not very good now. When I first got it about 2/3 years ago it was like lightning and everything worked fine, now as its their cheapest package it runs dog slow most evenings, ping times online are shit as is streaming

I had a mate once, his sky box broke, he had his broadband and everything with them... So he rang up to blag a free sky box.. They told him they only did HD box's now.. So he said he didnt have a HD TV, so he didnt want sky HD, argued for ages.. In the end he tried to trick them, said "fine, il just cancel everything then, im not paying for another box and HD". Bloke on the phone just said "Okay, il just put that cancellation through for you"

He was gutted hahaha

if you're planning on sueing for fake news, then please get rid of the daily fail, sun, mirror and all that shite while you're at it. Virgin is plain shite anyway. according to your story, I don't get why you didn't leave a year ago. Sounds like they lured you back in. You coming back for thirds now?

If my bread is no good I get myself another baker. Fuck them, it seems that all these cunts do is the old bait and switch recently. I heard loads of similar stories each time someone wanted to cancel a contract on grounds of not being able to get the service that was paid for.

Manu calm yourself down mate i was only messing about the sueing bit. Mainly my question which was asked further down the thread was if i am actually getting an upgrade or not. But i Will be making a call to them and demand some better speed cause as you lot quite rightly say, ten meg is shit nower days. Also it seems new customers are treated when I'm getting dry bummed on a monthly basis.

I thought this when i got that e-mail. Lots of people who have 50Mb will be pretty pissed off that they would be getting fucked over when people having 120Mb would be paying the same price as 50Mb.
