Evening Gents and the occasional lady

My friend is getting into Vinyl wrapping cars and is starting to open up his own shop doing it proffessionally and is willing to do my car with a large friend discount. But i'm not too sure of this because i've never really seen any results from a wrapped car.

Can it look as good as a painted car? If not better?

Is it a good substitute for paint?

Would you have your car wrapped?

I've always wanted my saxo a nice arctic white, but never been able to afford a respray. Could a wrapped car look just as good? What happens in regards to the inside of doors, under bonnet. etc?

give me your thoughts and opinions please, and any photo's of anything you've had wrapped would be great as well. Thanks guys. :p

Can it look as good as a painted car? If not better?Nope no depth of gloss and has a orange peel effect.

Is it a good substitute for paint?Offers a barrier over the existing paint but no paint is still better and lasts longer.

Would you have your car wrapped? Personally no unless it was dirt cheap

Wrapping is like marmite you either love it or hate it. Its just something that makes the car look better without adding any value to the car.

If it was to me, wrapping is perfect for a one off, (carbon fiber, or anything random) but for just a normal "paint" job i would actually paint it :)

I think wrapping can be good, not sure on wrapping a whole car, but the roof and spoiler wrapped gloss black looks pretty good on almost any colour car :)

Not sure if it was Apex's skyline but it was chrome wrapped and looked pretty good. I'd say if your mate can do it cheap for you get it done. I had a mate in rotherham who was into doing that, he did his s13 in a mad purple colour, that looked okay though you could see the joints in places.
From what I've heard it can be as expensive as getting it painted but like I said, if its cheap enough go for it.

On certain bits yeah I would say can look good, Whole car would rather have it sprayed tbh finish would be a lot better :)

Oh yes deffinately, no question about the finish. However if funds didn't permit a respray would vinyl wrapping a whole car be an alternate method of changing the colour for you?

Hmmm on the right car then maybe, But think sometimes can look tacky on some cars as if they are taking the cheap route?

sometimes it can look alright. if you can get it cheap and you want your car white then go for it

Looks great on matte colours. Make sure he gets insurance if he's working on customer's cars.
