Just over 18 months ago i received 3 points from the DVLA
sent my license off etc. it come back. the fine hadnt been taken out my account and there was nothing added to my license. i was stopped last week and they didnt mention i had any points so kept my gob shut.

do i assume i dont have any or the DVLA had gone wrong somewhere? as renewing my insurance soon and dont want to declare something i havent got. :/

Sounds like they have messed up.

I would just go on and not mention anything. End of the day, if it hasn't been put on your licence, then they don't exist.

18mths is a long time, if they had realised they had messed up etc, they would have contacted you already.

When you sent your licence off they add the points to the paper part, did it come back without them added then?

If so, sounds like you have got away with it.

The only thing I would be worried about is that the DVLA having a record of the points on their system which could be used as evidence if you don't declare them and then need to claim..

theres nothing on the paper bit.
im just in a predicament where i dnt wanna spend £xx extra on car insurance if i havent got points on the other hand i want to pay it for my insurance to be valid if i have got them :/

how long does it take for them to come off?

would be nice if i have got away with it but i never have good luck!!

Just ring up the DVLA and ask, say you had some poing a few years back but want them to check if they are still on there.

Speeding is normally on there for 4 years

Ring the DVLA, say you want to check if points are still on your license as you aren't sure if they have expired.. say can't remember date you got them and have lost paperwork or something..

Only issue is if you havent ever had points they will be a bit suspicous

Happened to my mate, he never got pulled for 7 year
, when he did they towed his car away, after they'd caught up with the paper work and realised he never paid the fine they revoked his license

On One Hand :y:

Sounds like you got fookin lucky.

On The Other :n:

They'd caught up with the paper work and realised he never paid the fine they revoked his license

:panic:

For what its worth, call up and double check.
It's not like the Fine and points are unexpected or unjustified.
However if when you call up they state you have a clean record, ask if some sort of print out is available to be sent to you. Then Your laughing
Don't risk making your insurance void until then

Well done for declaring that on a public forum.

Doesn't really make any difference though does it, I hardly think they are scouring around, unless they were put on to it, and even then, what exactly do they have to go on...

As mentioned, best bet is to contact them just incase its just your paperwork they made the mistake on as may cause alot of problems if their database has them on it.

i guess you could contact them, but dont make it obvious to them that theyve made a mistake.

i remember when my mum got 3 points once, she kept forgetting to tell them and eventually went the whole 3-4 years without telling them and they never even found out. She even had an accident and a payout so it doesnt exactly make your insurance 'invalid'

Would recommend maybe posing a slightly different to them ie policeman threatened me with points for some minor offence like incorrectly spaced letters on number plate etc and as you don't know the law you wanna see if he has really done it , or some shit like that.
Use the accent mochachino used as they may take into account you have "problems" and be really nice :)
