Been thinking recently of popping my tatoo cherry and getting a tat somewhere on my neck downwards..but I have read somewhere that it doesn't give out a good impression in terms of jobs etc! Is this true? Or is it just b.s?

So has anyone on here got any tats? If so, where? What design?

You could always get a tattoo. But seriously I think it depends on the line of work, none of mine are visable if I was wearing smart cloths for work

Common sense will tell you although people are more open minded these days you wont always get interviewed by one of these open minded people. I keep mine so that they arent visible if i wore a propper shirt, although i like the look of neck tattoos i wont be getting one untill i am qualified enough that it wouldnt be a consideration when going for a job lol. Only thing is for interviews etc you could get the woman to cover it up with a blob of whatever her chosen face paint is, if you think it would hamper your chances of getting the job. You might need to go get one on your eyelid after though to feel manly after the makeup ;)

None of mine are visible, neck tattoos look pretty crap usually anyway due to the awkwardness of the shape of the neck. Plus as its your first tattoo you'll be able to see it all the time, so might be better off getting one somewhere more inconspicuous first and get used to the idea.

Personally I will only have tattoos that I can hide, because of my job it looks very unprofessional.. depends what job your in i think, but i wouldnt risk having them on show :y:

I don't atm, I meant in the near future, providing I get this job..

Just a thought really..but maybe a neck tat for a first one would be bit silly.

Ill give you that one..

I always get it with labourers on site, they reckon they can get what they like as there only ever on site.. what they seem to look past is what im twenty years time they set up on there own and have to meet customers about jobs.

I want to get mine extended onto my hand but i know its a bad idea for work... but then should that matter

wouldnt mind getting my hand done, just to cover up some scars. to be honest the scars on my hand give of a bad impression, probably more so than if i had a tattoo. hmmm

yep, people say they can just be lazered of. Never can completely get rid of them.

All my tattoos mean something, i personally wouldn't just get one because it looks nice.

But they are addictive once you've had the one and realise it doen't hurt that much.

Dunno about that, my tattooist's best mate got a fitfty pence peice sized removed on his sleeve at a place in weymouth and it looks like normal skin..

different colours take more going over though, apparently black is the easiest to remove and red the hardest.

I can actually see now why neck tats may be frowned upon..fair enough if you wear something in your current employment to cover it, but if you were applying for some fancy-admin job 5years later, turning up at the interview with that on your neck may give off a bad first impression..sad though, how people with tats are looked upon as being 'rough'...

Maybe one just below the collar-bone would be better? As I say it's just a thought, I would literally have to spend weeks thinking about what I want, as it would have to have a meaning..may be a dumb Q, but can you just draw your own personal design, walk in and ask for that?
