Yeh that's right . Just I don't use the Saxo much only to shows or once in a blue moon . It will be the same when hrv is finished . I've tryed getting trade but it's all changed . Most say you have to show min 10 grand of income

If you dont use it much, pay by mile would be more beneficial to you wouldnt it?
Why cant you get trade?? My step dad has trade, hes had it for years, even when he was jobless he still has it :S

Trade policys are soley for moving cars from site to site, not for private use.
Loads of people do it, but you can come unstuck if you get pulled..

seeing as i do about 4k a year in the car and about 1k on the bike . . .would it work out for me, hmm...
i have a trade policy and i can have people in the car with me too, but i cant use it after 6Pm or before 6am. as banana man said, its not used for personal use, so i have to sort out personal insurance for after 6pm

One mine i just have low milage, apparently if you put 6k on annual milage it takes a good chunk off your renewal.

What about Adrian Flux?
They offer limited mileage policy's for modified cars.
Also, sky insurance may do something similar?

I don't think that's true for all trade policies. We've never had a problem with me being a passenger.
Bens also been stopped driving my old vtr late at night and the police didn't question the trade insurance and the hours :)

I was wondering about this, because my step dad always carries passengers and drives on his trade insurance all the time and no questions have been asked

The policeman would of just checked you where insured rather than asking what relavance to business driving about at night with his Girlfriend has?

But if bens driving, they'd obviously check he's insured to drive it no?

If the policy is valid and the driver is the policy holder hes insured i doubt the guy cared.
Its like a mate of mine (estate agent) was insured on his car with a normal policy and got caught for speeding one day, the policemen checked his insurance and said thats fine then asked what he was doing for my mate to say "driving to a veiwing".. Bam, using the car for work not just "commuting" and he got done for the "wrong insurance"
Trade policys as i said are for moving vehicles between sites or the test station etc not for carrying private passengers.

Well the policeman asks whose car it is, then asks if bens insured on it too. He says yeh I have trade insurance. The policeman never said it's too late to be using it and you can't have a passenger.
What about carrying passengers at work etc?

Work colleges yes but random people and Girlfriends no.
Tonts is the first one ive heard of where he can..
Ask your self its comman sence, its a trade policy so a commercial policy for a business. what reliavance does it hold to the company to carry your girlfriend around at night?

I think a lot of trade policies are abused so I wouldn't be susprised if they started changing the rules soon.

A friend of mine has traders insurance, and had a crash late at night with passengers.
Not one question was asked by the insurance nor the police as to why he was driving outside of working hours or why he had passengers.

Erm.... Maybe on some policies but you can 100% on other policies.
If your 'buying and selling' and have trade for that reason - you have to be able to take people out for test drives, and in some cases, let them drive it too.
O/H's policy states anyone can drive any of the cars covered under his policy as long as he is in the passengers seat.
he can drive ANY car, with ANYONE in it, but say he has a car he uses regularly (his own) or one he would be theoretically be selling, he just has to email his company and tell them.

not true, you can put your own vehicles on a traders policy for personal use, every vehicle we own now has to be declared now as too many chavvies were using trade policies to smoke around in cars they'd never be able to insure otherwise

waste of time and money, cost you a fortune, its the same concept as what we have in our work vans now!!(link below) senses cornering speed, acceleration, braking, knows when you break the speed limit on ANY road, and gives you a saety score, in this case costs you a fortune in insurance!
anyone whos a driver of van/wagon etc may aswell have a look at the link below to see what its all about, as insurance companies and businesses are lapping it up, saves the companies a fortune fuel, repairs and service, crash repairs, and is insurance approved
in short a few years time every fleet vehicle will be fitted with these:
