My great grandad aged 98 died today. He was so hard that he never lived in a nursing home and did everything himself... which tbh ultimatly lead to his death...lol he slipped in the bathroom! but like all great kings that die near a toilet (elvis) he wont be forgotten!
How old is your oldest relative? shame he didnt get a mention from the queen!

I think my G-parents are nearing 85 now and they still go skiing. I swear I'll die of old age before they do.

That is cool, i dread getting old.
98 is a great age to live to. Did he serve in both World Wars? Hat's off to him.

My grandad got to 94. I used to walk into his living room, see him sitting in his chair and go "christ, are you still here? Im going to have to get a silver bullet to finish you off" and he'd just laugh.

That's usually the case mate...
My mate was taken from us a year ago.. Was only 18.
Killed by a van driver overtaking on a fast, windy road.
He was going to be in the Olympics this year...

It's difficult to comprehend isn't it, I hope the van driver is doing time?

OP - 98 is a bloody good age, especially to be taking care of yourself.

My GREAT grandmother is 97 now. She thinks her (deceased) husband is at war and will be back soon... :S I expect her to be leaving us soon tbh :(
My granddad just turned 70 and cycles about 8000 miles per year...far fitter than I will ever be which is embarrassing...
Sorry for your loss man!

Sorry for your loss.
We lost my great gran at 99. She was moved into a nursing home about 3 months before she died - up till then she was doing everything herself and was fit as a fiddle. She refused to go into the home because 'Aw the buggers in there are aw auld and dying'
eventually the council put her in a home, and it was the worst thing they could have done as she thrived on her independence. She was mental my auld grannie.

Sorry to hear mate!
I never actually met any of my grandparents but i think my gran is about 78 or something, she does everything herself even jumps on the bus and goes into town shopping... she always comes home with bags full, and of course we all know grans buy the best things to stock the cupboards with!
