I just had my car serviced, all is great except for Since changing the gearbox oil for some quality stuff Fuchs 75w 85, the gear stick seems to get a bit crunchy going into first and second. Third fourth and fifth is ok. Also once its warmed up it goes away a bit...... I had this problem a little bit before i changed the oil, accompanied by a wobbly gear stick. Any ideas What i Can do to sort it? i actually dont think its the box its self, more like the roll pin is it ? it just feels like something is in the way when i go to Change gear. Something rubbery blocking it from slotting into gear properly. Thanks

I had exactly the same problem with my gearbox tried everything to solve it, new oil new gear linkages and made sure the roll pin was sitting perfect! It felt alot better in every other gear accept 2nd and then 2 days ago was driving at 30mph and for no reason at all the gearbox blew itself to pieces taking the engine mount with it causing my engine to pretty much fall out! take it to a garage asap :L sorry if this scares you but its an expensive repair!

sounds like the box is wearing, where the selectors slide over the 1st and 2nd gear cogs as there on the same shaft using the same selector, 1st and 2nd are changed too and from more frequent so they wear more, and as youve put the new oil in its lubricated in places the old didnt and prob washed something out that made it feel better or the wrong fluid was in before and now your seeing the true box rather than one that has been covered up by something.

then agen saying all that it could just be a worn plastic ball joint on the selectors or on the bottom of the stick... pull the gaitor up and have a look maybe something has come off under there.... simple but would have a similar effect.

That sounds the same as the box on the saxo, I got my dad to do the gears while I was looking at the linkages etc, there was a fair bit of play on the arm actually on the box think its linked to the roll pin, Was someone on here that replaced everything had pictures of it all might help,
Is easier to see it than explaining it.
