I will just go for the start of the list.......

3) Nearside front suspension arm has excessive play in a ball joint.

5) Offside front constant velocity joint is insecure
6) (fuel filter) fuel system component is insecure. (would explain why I have been drinking like a fish)
7) Nearside front suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded.
8) Offside front suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded.
9) (pipe is loose, clip is broken) fuel system component insecure
10) Nearside rear Tyre has a cut in excess of the requirements deep enough to reach the play or the cords.
11) Nearside rear Tyre tread depth below requirements of 1.6mm
12) Front brake application uneven
13) rear brake application uneven
14) Nearside front brake juddering severely
Advisories:
15) Windscreen has crack less than 40mm circle outside of zone 'A'
16) Nearside front direction indicator slightly discoloured
17) Offside front direction indicator slightly discoloured
18) Offside front coil spring corroded
19) Rear seatbelts not tested
20) Both front door check straps are damaged/broken
21) Oil leak
22) Nearside rear wheel is buckled.
23) Lower Gearbox mounting is perished, split and has play
24) Corrosion all underneath vehicle to all parts
25) Corrosion hole to offside rear cross member
26) Exhaust is very smokey.
And breathe. Lol. Now is that the biggest fail ever?? I would think so!
After having it done I really would like to keep it for a project car, to do the bits and learn for myself, but really? Is it really worth keeping???

Defo use it as a project to practice with. You need cars like this, nothing like jumping in the deep end with a lot to do - makes you feel awesome when it sails through an mot though.

Some list.
How bads the rust??
If you can't weld, it'll soon mount up in labour charges.

I want this, pretty badly. I will have a deep think.

It's not overly bad, and no I cannot weld, but my neighbour has over 40 odd years experience and all the machinery. So he has offered to help.
Quite an impressive fail list!
 I think so too!
Oh devil you are knowledgeable in the insurance area, I need to ask a few q's but I will pm them :)

Lol it certainly would Steve. A quick question. I need to know if I can declare sorn without the DVLA telling my insurers? and obviously not driving it because of the failed MOT?
Or should I, just leave the insurance alone to run out in April, and leave the tax to run out in March and declare sorn then? So no one is none the wiser? Either way I will NOT be driving the car, it is on private land and I want my NCB!

sounds like a right cunt of a tester...but there again most rob you tese days, times are hard for most garages
i always make it clear i do all the work myself on my cars when they go in for test
but there again i always do some basic checks first...things like tyres being as bald as that should mkae you think...hmm i might not pass a test! thats 3 points and a £60 fine, and the point code would bum rape you on insurance renewal

To be honest Blackie, I think the tyre business is bollocks. I had a new pair, and I mean brand new from Bathwick tyres put on them 1 week before! And they say that! I got back, checked them myself and they are fine.

I might take it back to where I bought it. It had the same gunkyness as shown in another thread, and failed an MOT. Yet they sailed it through one just to be able to sell it to me......

Right, I have just put her down as SORN, which I have to. But I shall just keep quite about the insurance until it pops up. After that, I plan on stripping her and seeing what the issues are and learning from it using it as a project car. Hey, who knows, it might turn out very decent.

i know the guy at my garage, and my car is shit, literally just shit, it passed last week, which left me and the guy both speechless, anyway, because i knew him i think he didnt check half the stuff you listed, the emissions test was a right laugh, more holes in my exhaust than the ryder cup, but even kwikfit werent that strict, was it just a normal garage or a company like national, kwikfit etc?

Wow, thats impressive.
could keep it for a project, some of the work is pretty small and easy, the hardest would be finding the rust and fixing that!

6) (fuel filter) fuel system component is insecure. (would explain why I have been drinking like a fish) nothing to do with consumption, just means the fuel filter straps buggered. cable tie it back.

20) Both front door check straps are damaged/broken parts are about £20ish?

24) Corrosion all underneath vehicle to all parts sand back, paint, underseal.

This guy must be a total newbie to testing as I went school with a lad that works for his dad testing and got a list similar to this on and the missus last car and the was newer than mine.

Ok, I feel this deserves a huge bump. I'll tell you why. I have gone through the trouble of fixing every fault going except a few advisories on this car! Man it's been a ball ache but I am proud and have learnt a LOT. The MOT will hopefully take place this Saturday and am shitting a brick. Can't understand why though.
Wish me luck people.

mine was bigger. had 3 pages of fails. took me 2-3months of low budget sorting it and it passed 1st time i retested it.
its not as bad as when you 1st look if you group things up. redoo all your brakes and give them a good bleed, that knocks 2 or 3 off your list. replace your rear tyre, knocks 2 off the list. what i did was group things together. as they put 3 or 4 things down for the same part just worded different.

Ha sorry mate. I feel I might have misplaced my faith in this car. Had just booked an MOT, and well the car has a fair few problems still. Not worth risking an MOT to be perfectly honest. Going to try and sell it on for spares or repairs and get either a Focus or a VTS/R.
