what temp does the coolant lamp light up on a 1.1 saxo,
and does the fan kick in before the light illuminates? cheers...gazza

My fan kicks in just over halfway

mine has not a temp gauge only a light

Well if the light come on stop driving if it doesnt come on dont worry, also if the light comes on and your fan isnt on then you have a problem

cheers stefan thats what i was after,just done the head gasket and the light came on while running the engine up but the fan did not cut in,i sorted the overheating out as it was a blockage in the thermostat housing,still cant get the fan to cut in and now the light on the dashboard dosent illuminate at all even when you swith the ignition on so i cant tell if its overheating or not.

Fan should.cut in way before the light. Fuse gone?

i was maybe thinking because my coolant light is not working i dont know if its overheating and maybe i havent let the engine warm up enough as i dont want to boil it

if youve done a h/g and light is coming on then your car is overheating

probs a blockage or needs bleeding properly

as said the fan shouldkick in way before the light comes on...are you getting hot air to the blowers? how long was the car apart?

the problem is the light does not come on at all even with the ignition switched on,so when the engine is started and run up on idle(its SORNED)so cant drive on the road,the heater gets very hot,but i dont want the engine to overheat(because the light wont illuminate)so i am thinking the bulb has blown...if it had a proper temp gauge i could just watch that to see how the temp is doing..
ps,the wifes 2011 fiesta zetec has not got a temp gauge as well just a light....dohhh
or a spare wheel....
