Included apparently if you have either the Sports 1 and Sports 2 package, OR the HD package.
Reading into I I can't figure out if it means you have the standard HD package, but not Sports you can still get it. Anyone shed any light???

I also want to know if this will be available on Sky Go if you have the sports channels if anyone knows?

Just found this if it helps:
"The dedicated channel will be provided at no extra charge to all Sky TV customers who take both Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 or the HD pack of channels. It will be found at 408 in Sky's on-screen guide, after a scheduled move of the Sky Sports channels. Sky Sports viewers without the Sky+ HD pack will receive a standard definition version.
Sky Sports F1 HD viewers can also follow the action wherever they are with all live coverage on Sky Go, through online, mobile or tablet devices, at no extra charge"
Looks like I'm out of luck as we don't have the HD channels :(
**EDIT**
Woooo in luck! Parents pay for the HD channels so I'll get it on my iPhone! Woop woop!

Farewell F1 ... I knew you well :(
It'll be better on Sky1.
From experience, even though I liked BBC's coverage, it was pretty budget.
I watched a race last year in Sardinia, and the italian coverage is much better, (even though i don't speak the lingo) the graphics / technical geeky shiz etc was awesome.
It was the same when we watched a race in a bar in Germany.
Sky1 will put a load of money into stuff like that, money that bbc couldn't afford to invest.
craig180
22nd January 2012, 10:13
Not going to be on Sky 1 dude. There is a dedicated Sky channel coming for the F1 so that existing HD customers can view it without having to pay into a Sports package.
Called this morning to confirm :y:
so if you already have HD or one of the Sports packages with 1 & 2 you'll get it for nowt. If not it will cost you £120 to watch the 2012 F1 in it's entirity as you'll have to sign up to either the HD package or the sports package for £10 a month on a 12 month contract

I have a Sky store in the shopping centre I work at. Literally just been to see him and I can confirm:
FREE if you have HD or Sky Sports 1 + 2
Although not publicly announced, it WILL be on Sky Go
Not confirmed:
He doesn't think they'll feature TV adverts due to the £120 fee to non-subscribers. Again, not confirmed!!

BBC's formula1 was pretty basic in comparison to other countries i've watched it...

Maybe the BBC felt they didn't need the technical stuff / maybe only a minority would enjoy it, or maybe they couldn't afford any good graphics / geeky stuff - who knows! BBC had David coulthard though, and i thought he was pretty good!
The only people that seem upset about the move is those who don't have Sky already.
and Eddie Jordan's a cunt.
All personal preference though, but i bet it'll be better on Sky for the majority of stuff.
Jonny52002

I only ever watched the normal coverage as I didnt fancy having bars with information all over the play distracting from the main coverage, however was my understanding on the red button you had the driver trackers and lap times etc. I've never seen F1 coverage in other countries so couldn't comment.
Eddie Jordan brings a different perspective on things been a previous team owner, I personally think he was great (aaprt from his shirts) and I could have done without DC in the commentary and had David Croft alongside Martin which Sky (bastards) have gone and done.
Oh btw, did anyone see the news about whos going to be doing the Radio 5 Live Coverage of F1 next year. BBC must have been struggling cause they've got bloody James Allen in, he was awful !!!!

I'm just pissed because last year the BBC coverage worked really well. The pit walk, before race featurettes, interviews ... The whole package worked. I really got behind the F1 season, more so than any over year. Football fans do anything to get home to see. " the match" last year was the only time I felt like that. I really went out of my way some Sunday's to be in front on the TV for the start lol.
This year I'll loose all that, I don't have Sky nor can I justify the cost of Sky just for the sport. So while I agree with other members stating Sky will make it better, no doubt it will be with a larger budget.
But
I've basically lost 1 of the only sport I enjoy watching lol :(
Basically being the key word, but the BBC coverage is going to be hit HARD.

Well sky have had the football for years and only made a negative impact (fixture scheduling), sold footballs soul (making it all about the money), and have contributed nothing as far as technology goes to improve the game.

One example is the heat vision camera, it allows the viewer to see if the ball had actually made contact with the bat or not, which led to the introduction of the Referal System and allowed the players to challenge the umpires decision.

I only hinted that I would watch it for free somewhere else, as I doubt that having to pay £120 extra just to watch a few races with adverts in between is a fair deal... as a matter of fact it's not. Then the money goes all the way up towards that dude who has no remorse invading peoples private lives just to make more money. Including fiddling with the phone of a dead 13 year old girl. Back on topic anyway, I'm at work (virginmedia) at present and just saw this on the intranet...
We have reached an agreement with Sky to make the forthcoming Sky Sports F1 channel available to our customers from its launch on 9 March, ensuring they will be able to watch every possible practice, qualifying and race of the FIA Formula 1TM Grand Prix 2012 season.
The channel will be dedicated to comprehensive reporting of the world's most prestigious and popular motorsport series. Martin Brundle, David Croft, Georgie Thompson, Ted Kravitz, Simon Lazenby and Steve Rider will bring viewers all the news, views and live action from the start of the new Formula 1TM season.
The great news for all our Sky Sports Collection customers is that we are adding the new channel for no additional monthly fee! That’s just a little gift from us to our premium TV customers.
Every customer who is subscribed to Sky Sports Collection or Sky Sports and Movies will automatically get access to the new channel once it launches and will see no changes to their bill.
For all other customers, if they want to watch the Sky Sports F1 channel too, they simply need to upgrade to either Sky Sports Collection or Sky Sports and Movies:
Sky Sports Collection (Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as Sky Sports F1): from £22.50 per month
Sky Sports and Movies (the full Sky premium channel range as well as Sky Sports F1): from £29.50 per month
Customers who do not want to upgrade to Sky Sports Collection can still watch half the races on BBC 1 and BBC 1 HD. The new channel will not be available as a standalone channel to any customers
How is Sky offering the new channel to their own customers?
Sky is offering the new channel in HD to all their own customers who take their HD pack for £10.25 per month. They are also packaging the channel in SD with Sky Sports for customers that don’t take the HD pack. The channel will not be available as a standalone channel for Sky customers either.
----------
So from what I can make from this, unless you have skysports you won't get the channel :-/

Sky coverage looks amazing, just watched the preview on PickTV. Unfortunately, as a mere peasant with no Sky subscription, I shall have to stick to my alternative means of watching the F1.
He was brilliant :y:
I will always remember him getting to pole. But never satisfied with that, he would keep up the pace and screw up.
Always interesting to watch & from what I remember, never a twat during interviews :y:
Edit: Anyone know what time the BBC replay is? Cant find it anywhere :n:
Regarding Montoya, as much as I'd like him back in F1, have you seen the size of him now? Probably would take him a year or 2 to slim down enough to even fit in the car.

Why has this thread got so many helmets posting in it?
If you don't want to pay, don't pay but then don't bitch about it.
If you do want to watch it, then pay the man, simples.
I had sky installed yesterday, got the F1 channel on straight away, looks awesome already.

Well as I see it, I'm going to be no worse off because I already have HD and paying bugger all for it as I keep ringing Sky and telling them I'll leave so get reduced main package rate which covers the cost of the HD.
Should be good Josh - Just concerned there will be adverts :(
:bump: What do you say to them to get them to reduce it? And how much do they reduce it by? Pretty good idea tbh

I just keep telling them I have V and BT hassling me for my business. When they try to sell me the Pros of staying I just turn it around and tell them that isn't a benefit to me. As long as sky think you need them they will charge you an arm and a leg. If they think they have nothing over the competition they cave in and offer reduced line rental. Think we're getting 16 or 18 quid a month off at the mo
