Just wondering what the options are really. Here is the situation

Dad was driving down road and a parked car on side decided it was going to do a u turn in the middle of road and pulled out, dad swerved to miss the car but it just clipped him and it has a few battle scars down the side. Nothing to cry about but still scratches and scuffs that could of been avoided.
Now the person who did the turn decided to drive straight off even though they had just driven into my dad.
My dad didn't get the number plate or car make but he had some of their number plate that had cracked stuck between bumper and bodywork meaning he knew they smashed the number plate. On way home today driving past same spot we notice the said car, with smashed number plate and nice dint in front bumper from the bump.

Now the Q is, two days later can anything be done? Can they be reported for leaving the scene of the accident? the damage on my dads car isnt great to justify an insurance job but at same time it's his pride and joy so now marked.
Just some advice on what options are avail. Or just suck it and leave it?

Of course something can be done they've hit your dad so they have to cough up, and the fact theybdrove off will get them in more trouble to.

Report it to the police, and keep the piece of number plate. Give that to the police.

Yup, fleeing the scene of an accident is a crime unless both parties don't give a fuck.
Sicne yougive a fuck and want something done you can report them for fleeing and you have proof since you have soem of their license plate and you know where the car usually is, plus i'm guessing you have the reg now that you've seen it sicne the accident?

nah it was your fault anyway, you're supposed to give way

if anything the police will do you for driving without due care and attention

How does that work? If the car was parked up then suddenly pulled out to turn around then it's the other parties fault.

Was the car parked up at his/her house?

Id knock on the door and ask for abit of money to sort out the body work, and also mention they left the scene of an accident which wouldn't go down well if the police were involved.
