Hi guys

My motor should be getting looked at today by a guy my mechanic recommended, the guy said he charges £55 call out and up to an hour half work i think??..my motor is idling to high and the acceleration cuts in & out when driving along...so mechanic said get a diagnostic done! Sound ok to you or am i getting ripped off?? plus what does a diagnostic do?

Can go to almost any garage and get a diagnostic done for £20.

and even that is expensive, considering it's £20 to plug a laptop in the car and read what the screen says.

definately ripping you of mate, i've had it done a couple of times, both didn't find anything, so didn't charge me. BUt it would have only been £15-£20 if it had found something.

just go to a local garage and get diagnostics done, don't pay for call out charge.

Sounds a high price to me mate,I had my car put on a diagnostics reader last week & they didn`t charge me a penny.Plus depending on what year your saxo is you can get a fault code scanner off ebay for around £20.00.

Hey... Hastings is pretty local to me. If you're able to get your car over to Horsham/Dorking then i'll hapilly take a look for £20.

I can read all engine trouble codes, ABS codes, Airbag codes, I can do live data and freezeframes etc.
