Im only 25 and I've got a lil girl who's 5. I always wonder what cars will be like when it's her turn to start driving.

Anyone else think like this and what you reckon we can expect to see?

Probably wont be that many directly driven petrol/diesel cars around. I reckon it'll all be battery or cars that have their own onboard generator, be that powered by a fuel cell or fossil fuels and electric motors in the wheels for instant torque etc

I reckon manual transmission will be phased out.

They'll keep pushing this electric car shite and won't be able to scrap them. So basically it doesn't look good lol.

If you look at the cars our parents were driving at my age (Morris minor, Triumph Vitesse etc). There's still a large number on the roads and working well. I really can't see any of these modern plastic things lasting more than 15 years.

Exactly, what do you do with a car full of batteries when they expire!

Hydrogen fuel cell technology is on the rise so I reckon that's where it's all going to end up as these battery powered cars are just a false economy.

+ 1, Hydrogen cell cars are a better prospect then battery electric cars.

lets face it they will be very few thirsty v8 monsters driving about. im pretty sure most cars would be, "self driving" i.e using sensors and navigational shit like that . which in my opinion could save lives and reduce shitty insurance premiums.

If the law allows it, I'll always keep an old car with a decent engine.
Sure they'll one day ban these cars but they can't stop me keeping one in my home lol

I always think that aswell. Although I think what everything will be like - music, economy, fashion etc
I'd love to keep a mint saxo/106 for Aidy to have one day, obvs not for his first car, but it'd be nice to hand down as its how his parents met :A:

Hydrogen fuel cell technology has been around since the early 2000's, the reason it hasn't kicked on? Because the government haven't found a way to tax it yet. In the 1950's they all thought we'd be living on the moon/in space by now. In 12 years time I can't see current automobiles being any different.

We need another world war if we want technology to jump.

Dad's company car is a Prius (Cheap on tax etc he's a petrol head at heart lol).

My Mk2 Golf was better on fuel. And the Prius only has a 10 year life expectancy.

Wtf happened to building a car to last 20+ years??

Chill out! I've used lil because I think its kind of fitting when referring to children, I think it sounds cute.

And if it eases your mind at all, she gets taught to speak English as it should be spoken.

I'm going to teach my daughter to speak Cantonese before she learns English. I'll also name her Foldaway.

My gosh she's going to be a bullies dream.
