the ecu either needs to be unlocked which is enough if the replacement is on a car thats still running or you need the key,ecu and immobiliser box as a set

do you think i can get the ecu unlocked locally and how much do you think i'll be looking at to get it done.
the guy who's breaking the 1.1 2001 forte is asking for about £100 for the ecu
but if i need to get that ecu unlocked its not worth the money
might ask him for the key,ecu and immobiliser box if he has it
i have read on the forums that if its the same year and a perfect match it shouldn't effect the ecu but im not taking that as gospel
thanks for a speedy reply my lover

don't listen to internet truffle, far too many pub based mechanics lol, even if the ecu is same day of manufacture it won't work unless its unlocked or the complete kit is fitted, £100 is way too much for an ecu even if its unlocked anyway, pm ryanmt on here, he can unlock ecu's, i've got one i need him to do soon

cheer mate you sound a top bloke,
i rekon im gonna ask his advice as im not sure if im able to get everything you state
if so would another ecu fit for example any 3 pulg ecu from a scrapyard
kinda been off work all this week need to get it sort it driving me mad (pardon the sh*te pun)
if i can get the key,imb and ecu for a fair price of the ebay guy would that be less hassle that buying a cheaper ecu and getting it unlocked
this is doing my head in maybe due to the spike from the wrongly charged battery has locked the ecu

Hi £100 is for ecu transponded and lock set as if you just had the ecu you would need to get it reprogrammed thanks

make sure you get the little black box that lives behind the glove box included, about the size of a 20 pack of fags

i just hope this will sort it out as my auto electrican tells me this is the problem with the car.
gonna message the ecu guy on here with everything that went wrong see if he can think where to problem is
just cuz i dont wanna spend £100 on the parts if i dont need it
thanks a ton
