morning fella's,

got a problem that im pretty much lost with basically an auto elecy told me my ecu had blown as there was a voltage spike thru the system when my alt failed so i got a replacement got ecu,imb box, arieal, ign and key installed all the doner parts and hooked up the battery the imbolizer light still remains on

i had a key programmer come out he took the reg and vin number off me and got the code from the dealer

he hooked up the machine to the diag socket set up the ecu and installed the key again this didnt work so he installed another key so there was 2 on the system still this didnt work

and noticed the fuel pump isnt priming either

his advice was to get a diag done to truely diag the fault but its all ready cost me close to £300 buyin parts and getting people to look at it and i still have no idea what to do

my next plan is to go check the relay under the ecu then check to see if ive got a spark

ive checked all the fuses and plan on getting a multi meter to check the fuel pump has power and there earths are ok

the auto diag bloke i spoke to yesterday rekon i might of blown the passanger fuse board??????

do see how this would effect the imb tho???:wall:

if anyone has and knowledge that i might of missed it'd really help me out

I think your ecu is locked preventing your car starting.

cheers cam for you offer :)

i just carn't get head around why its locked i had the ecu, transponder, aerial ect from a running saxo of the same year model even a forte the parts where removed from the breaking car with no battery connected and installed with no battery connected so in theroy the ecu should think its in the doner car still

i think im gonna get a mobile guy to run a diag test will this tell me if its locked or not?

Why did you get the key programmed to your car when the key already has its matching ECU and imob box from the old car?

The fuel pump not priming isnt to do with a locked ecu, it would still prime.

check for a spark to see if your ECU is locked, but it wont start anyway as you have programmed the key for the ecu you have removed :S

Why pay someone to tell you its locked... If the coils no sparking and the key flashes its locked.

when i had installed the new ecu and parts and it made no diffrence the auto electrician told me I'd need to get the ecu unlocked and gave me the number for a key programmer (didnt know this till he arived i assumed he would just of reset the new ecu to factory setting or something) so when he turned up he pluged a machine into the diag socket and went ahead and programmed the ecu with the code from citroen this didnt work and the imo light still flashed so he told me it wasn't picking up the key so he re programmed the new key to the new ecu

i had faith in him as the bloke at the garage recomenned him as an ecu expert little did i know he was just a locksmith in essence

so pretty much all i need to do is check for a spark and ill know that added a bit of clarity to the situation anyway

Mate no being funny its simple the key light is flashing / on, your ecu is 99.9% locked.

the guy did mention it might take a little time for the ecu to realize what has gone on cheers cam yer im thinking this is the only out come just dont really wanna keep throwing money at it only brought the car for 500 and like a say above its cost me close to 300 quid so far

how long would it take from me posting it to you to me getting it back mate i've already lost a week of work and it look like i wont be going back this week either

thanks guys this has be a really productive thread :)

oh and cam how do you think ive managed to lock it considering i did everything properly?

Could be something simple as a broken pickup ring too. Think you have more than just the immobilised problem though if your pump isnt priming.

well this thread had given e food for thought and at least half an idea i was almost ready to scrap the car so cheers lads

chino, i got the pick up ring from the replacement car also basically i brought

the ecu,imo box, key, pick up ring, ignition, all door locks and fuel cap

for £100

think i'll bite the bullet and get it unlocked but if try to get the pump priming first

and regarding the pump ive brought a mutli meter today so come monday i'll check to see if there is power going to it also check the cut off switch and the relay

ill check all the wiring relating to the pump refering to the wiring diagram with a contenuity test

see what happens after this i guess

Good luck.

But as I said, you have bought all the "ecu, imo box, key, pick up ring, ignition, all door locks and fuel cap" so the key wouldn't have needed to be programed to your car, doing that has probably locked the ECU instead.

Could have different immo loom citreon used 3 different types..

wayne_duckworth

could be cam but it was an exact match same year engine size model but you know ore than i do about the dif in looms

say the only reason i got the key guy out was cuz it wasnt disablin the imob from the start maybe because the ecu didnt have chance to setup once installed

cam once you have unlocked it will the dif in loom still be an issue or will this process iradicate it

The ECU doesnt learn a code it programmed into it. What i use my software to do is tell the ECU to forget the immo code as such.

ok mate thanks for letting me know as it is being done anyway is there performance changes you could do to improve consumption or are we talking mega buck just a thought
