vtr engine issues

got the car the other day ide rather not have to change the engine if i have to but it aint lookin good.

issues are as follows.

engine management light.
light with oil jug constantly on.
sometimes wont start of the key turns over slow and stops. nock ignition of and try again does same thing sometimes starts sometimes wont but bumps straight away.
theres a noise while reving that i can only describe as sounding a bit like a diesel its deep and only occurs while revving not idleing.

doesnt sound good but any light in these issues would be greatly apreciated thanks.

1 check the oil level.

2 Get the ecu scanned for fault codes.

checked the oil its fine sometimes when you rev it it sounds like something is rattleing about like small peices or something which made me think that the bottom end was on the way out. but it would constantly sound rough if it was that wouldnt it? dont know if the cat could be fucked if that would have shit rattled about inside when reved confuses the life out of me but i suppose fault codes need reading first.
